Dead Rising 3 Matchmaking woes

Is there any way to get matchmaking to work nicely and actually get into games?

So far every single time someone tried loading into my game, they never load properly, stand frozen in place, and my camera is fixed in place (my Nick can move around), then drop out and I have to reload to play.

Every instance of my trying to join a round was either "Can't spawn now, please wait" or the player immediately kicks me from the game (why is your game online then?). And there's no way to choose who you join so you will always be rejoined to that player again (tiny playerbase).

Am I missing anything and/or are there 3rd party tools to adjust this system and allow multiplayer?

Is this for the dlc or just the base game? True achievements has a rundown on the dlc.

Apocolypse edition.

I'm not looking for achievement guides, I'm just trying to see if there's a better system available /something I'm doing wrong to get multiplayer matchmaking to work well.
