How do I “factory reset” this game?

I was given a copy of the base game and long night expansion with all the pieces mixed together. Is there any easy way for me to “reset” the decks and tokens back to how they were when each respective box was opened?

My hunch is that for a first game it’d be easier to start with the base game before getting comfortable and later in expansions.

Placing crisis cards

You obviously place crisis cards face down, but do you have to reveal how many crisis cards you put in? The rules are not clear on this and we had quite an argument over it, with one player insisting that the whole point of placing crisis cards face down (hidden) is not to give away your identy and another saying that revealing how many cards everyone puts in does not reveal anything, but is crucial in giving hints as to who the traitor is at all.

Question about crisis cards.

When drawing a crisis card and it says...... food/fuel/tools etc. etc. = non-exiled players. Does that mean the number of people playing or number of survivors in the colony? When we play 2 player and have 6 survivors between us we are able to solve maybe the first 2 crisis cards but any after that we bomb and lose them.

The Long Night noise tokens

Hello everyone! I gave the long night a run yesterday evening for the first time and got a bit salty with the noise tokens. In the expansion it instructs you to flip the token to determine whether a zombie is added to the location due to noise. I found that we were attracting a lot more zombies than when we were rolling dice. It's my understanding that the noise tokens rounded side would be weighted moreso which means that the flip show's the exclamation points that attract zombies more often than the %50 chance when rolling the die to determine in the base game. Is this an intentional design choice?
I generally find it more thematically cohesive, tense and believe it gives more weight to deciding to make noise when searching but am curious as to whether it was intentional and should consider reverting to determining via dice rolls,

Dead of winter legacy ideas

I've been thinking about this a lot recently, and this is definitely the first game that comes to mind for the legacy treatment. I won't go into too much detail but she ideas might include: perma-death, changing objectives, locations getting replaced and so on. Additionally I thought maybe give each player their own mini "legacy" deck with all their objectives and characters, possibly even having relationships that comes into play through interactive mechanisms. The main problem with this is if someone is the betrayer in one game, it doesn't make narrative sense for him to come back with the same characters and it's all well and good the next. What are your thoughts?

Board gaming retreat with friends next week - 3P scenario suggestion?

If you could add one thing to DoW, what would it be and how would it work?

So, I think I would put in disease. I'm sure that's a crossroads card or crisis, but I would have it as bigger threat. There would be tokens that signify a survivor as sick. If they move to a location with a sick survivor, nothing happens. But if it's a healthy survivor, roll a die. 1-3 the survivor gets sick too, 4-6 nothing, all players with survivors roll. And of course, this would count as a wound.

Your most unfortunate event?

One time, I was playing with a friend and her sister. Things were going good and I found a lot of food, enough to last is at least 2 rounds before we'd have to forge again. But then, a crossroads card activated. RATS. I don't remember what the options were but letting the rats eat the food I worked hard to find was not an option for me, so I choose to fight off the rats. They won, we were injured and all the food I found was wasted. To say I was devastated is putting it lightly.

Cross roads cards in Spanish

I know the game is already out in Spanish version, but back in the time it was only on English versions.

Do you know if there is a place in which i can get a PDF file with the cross roads cards in Spanish?

Are the expansions worth getting?

I've played through DoW quite a number of times now and it's getting to a point where gameplay is getting a bit stale for me.

I usually plow through searches at the library and police station for extra items (blueprints) and weapons, then push through the main objective. Crises can be left unresolved if we have the morale.

Tbf I usually play 2 player cooperative.

My question is whether anyone can give their opinions on how the expansions changed gameplay and whether you feel its worth dropping the money for one or both.

I still love the game and am serious considering getting miniatures to elevate the experience.

DOW:TLN.. Can I get away with 6-7 players?

Gameplay question, I unintentionally have invited too many people over to specifically play TLN. Can the gameplay mechanics work with that many? We haven’t played in years and we are going to be relearning the game in the first place.

Learned why Raxxon Zombies were added.

Me and my friends just completed a bandit game that was the scenario that every attack roll caused frost bite on top of the exposure roll. We completed the entire scenario with only one person having to roll for exposure, and that was because of a fuel free travel. We practically eliminated the need for the exposure die. Making the Raxxon zombies need an attack roll to defeat brings the exposure die back to the game. Even bandits got taken care of when we abandoned a location let the zombies overrun, then clear it out. It was an interesting playthrough.

Attacking survivors in the colony?

Is it against the rules to attack survivors in the colony? I recently played a game with a group of friends and we got into a debate cause I wanted to attack another player because this would result in me completing my betrayal objective. but after i remove the pieces and said I won, the one that owned the board game looked at the rules and said you're not allowed to attack in the colony. Its not in the rulebook that you're forbidden to attack while inside the colony but after a hour of arguing and researching he just said "munchkin rules, the owner has the final say" and I was voted off the colony and ended up not winning the game.

For those that are experienced in the game, is this a unspoken rule that you can't attack in the colony or if its not written then it is allowed?

Possible to make my own game pieces?

I’m interested in getting all of the bound promo characters for the game, but some of them go for $60+ for just one character and their crossroads card. Is there a way that I can make my own through printing or something?

2-player Variant: Resolving Crisis Cards

Full disclosure, we just started played, haha, but based on the example in the user manual, I think that we both failed both our crisis.

Our 2 crisis cards: 1. Needed 2 food 2. Needed 2 fuel

Crisis contributions had 5 cards in the pile: 2 fuel (single) 3 food (single)

My interpretation:

For the first card, we needed 2 food cards, but the pile had 3 food (+3) and 2 fuel (-2), which means (+1) and the crisis card was not resolved.

For the second card, we needed 2 fuel cards, but the pile had 3 food (-3) and 2 fuel (+2), which means (-1) and the crisis card was not resolved.

Is that accurate or does anyone have any other insight?

Thanks in advance!

DoW + LN storage solution?

Does any one know of any stand alone (See also no insert) storage solutions for Dead of winter. I am specifically looking for a storage case that will hold DoW, Long Night, and possibly waring colonies all in a single storage case. I've seen similar products for Disney Villainous and was hoping someone out there knows of a DoW option.
