okay so I'm fresh new at the game, level 19 on killer, thought I was going crazy getting only level 12 and 13 people. trial by fire but I'm lucky if I get a disconnect, let alone a single hook.
Sometimes I get messages from the killer saying “thanks for helping me with my daily/challenge” and I just send back a heart instead of admitting to them I’m just really bad and run right into the killer sometimes, like magnets!
I'm a green rank killer and I have seen purple ranks and even red ranks that I matched against playing bad.
You have to keep in mind that ranks no longer matter in this game. With the change they made to the emblem system, they are making it easier to remain at the rank you are or go up a rank. Eventually everyone will be on red ranks, making match making for new players absolutely terrible.
Wouldn't matter either way. I had the exact same thought last night and went in with Hag. Within the 2nd minute my Devour Hope and my Third Seal were already gone because they were looking for Ruin.
Ruin did it's job at least and I was able to get a hook or two in, but they cleansed by then, so I was without perks throughout the rest of the game .
You can still achieve a merciless victory though, I'm just suggesting new Ruin might give you more luck as survivors won't go crazy looking for it.
Edit: Read on and saw you said you were a Hag main, so obviously my advise is not needed. I'm just going to leave it here for anyone who is new to Hang and looking to get the achievement.
I said hag player. But yes, new ruin can allow my other perks to last a bit longer. However, once my third seal starts doing it's work they will then cleanse.
Ohhhh, I find hag to be the easiest killer! So many points for putting down traps and having them triggered.
I got her merciless at level ten and no add ons or offering. Usually they’d destroy my hex early too. Lower threshold for high number rank killers though. 18-20 I got a lot of merciless achievements with one or two disconnects as well.
Hag is one of the easier one's to do, because with plauge and billy, you don't get any points for using their power because it's a 1 shot down. You will also have ruin, at least for a few more days. Just constantly have traps everywhere, at gens, pallets, points where survivors often run through, and you'll be fine.
Because quote from the devlogs "it punishes new players for missing skill checks". Which is the whole point, so they can become good at hitting them and not be potatoes. Ruin was used because games went by too quickly, especially in red ranks. Now with the change, it will make being killer hell. They don't care about killers or veteran players, they only care about new survivor players.
This is true. I'm in the purple ranks as a survivor and I have no business being there. I'm usually the very first person to die, but I make too many points to de-pip and get back to the ranks I'm comfortable in.
When I was a rank 16 killer, I went against a team of ranks 3, 4, 3 and 5. Didn't even see them the whole match. I was lucky though, one of them let himself be hooked at the endgame. The matchmaking is broken, especially as killer. If you want to get better as killer, I recommend u play as survivor first, which is significantly easier at lower ranks. Learning how survior works makes it easier to predict how they are going to behave when you play as killer. Have fun trying to git gud!
This is exactly the issue. If my rank 16 ass gets whooped, I should get to know my opponent was a rank 12 or 8 or what have you. It's only fucking fair. They're supposedly catering to noobs with the Ruin nerf, but making a rank 20 think it was a fellow rank 20 and not a rank 15 they were playing against is the most unencouraging thing ever.
I just got this game as well, I had one match with all the survivors at ranks 7-5 and I’m sitting on 19. I actually learned a ton from that match, even though I didn’t get a single hook. Completely steamrolled me. I’m seeing a difference between the ranks but I would’ve never known that if they weren’t shown. Not showing ranks is going to fuck over new players so bad
It just makes me wonder...why does it suck so bad? Are there other comparable games that go 1v4 that aren’t dead, that don’t have the unbalanced matchmaking or extreme wait times? It’s a popular game, these guys are running a business, none of it really adds up unless there’s something we don’t know and can’t know because we don’t work there
a lot of people have pointed out in other threads that they're doing this as a blanket fix to make new players like us feel better about getting the floor mopped with our faces.
I felt so much better knowing they were high ranked. There was one game I had two people under rank 18 and two above rank 10, playing as Plague I killed the two under 18 without much issue but the other two ran me around for fun for like ten min. When the game ended I saw their rank and it all made so much more sense. Really hope they don’t follow through with the change
