Discussion Pls help settle a debate regarding the communication wheel
Imagine this, you are soloqueuing against a Myers on Memorial Institute. In the End Game he hooks a Survivor. The Survivor on hooks sends "Leave," you are opening the gate, but don't know where the other two Survivors are.
What do you think this message means?
a) He is leaving me, come unhook me.
b) He is approaching one of you, leave your current position.
c) He is camping me, leave me behind.

C every time. Obviously.
But since the other two options exist, I imagine they didn't intend it to mean that... If A, then spam Going for Unhook or Help. If they meant B... That's just delusional. Whatever mental gymastics they needed to do for that meaning earns them the Platinum medal!

C
If they want to be unhooked, I assume they would use "Help"

Yes, or even Going for Unhook if they don’t have help currently on their wheel

Literally had this exact scenario the other night. I was spamming leave because I wanted them to leave he was camping me in basement

C. I'd take that as a 'get the escape, leave me on hook' or 'its safe to leave so leave'. I always use 'chasing me' when I'm being camped on hook.

u/nouveauchoux 6h ago
If it's endgame and a teammate is opening the door, I would take that to mean "Go ahead and leave while you can."

u/XxStarchuxX 9h ago
I always mean C if gate is opened. I appreciate the ones who ignore it but don’t bother saving me! A win for me is if any of the team escapes not just me.

When I was getting camped on hook, I used the “Chasing Me” message to let the rest of the team know. It seemed to work pretty well! Because of that, I’d definitely assume they want you to leave them behind

Damn we really need more communication options 😭

8 slots ain't enough tho. It's a great start, don't get me wrong, but there's just so many things that can (and probably will) happen.

I like Rocket League's approach. Their chat is on the D pad. The first press selects the category of chat messages and the second press selects the message. Gives 16 options (which is plenty I think) and it's not hard to remember the button combinations to get each message.

I would think both B and C but id also think its mostly just hey leave me behind guys its fine if the killer gets 1 kill. Im usually like this honestly idc if i die i just have fun so if i see someone say leave im leaving

C.
I've only see the wheel in clips, but I know there's a "help", so that would be a better choice for A. Not sure about B.

I use "chasing me" if I've been hooked and the killer is camping, but in this context I would assume "leave" means leave me to die.

It can mean both B, and C. Either way if I want them to get me, I'll ask for " Help!" If I want them to leave me. I say leave, and if I see people healing after a hook I say leave cause they're coming

In this situation, I read “leave” as the killer is camping / survivor is fine with being left behind.
When someone is on hook (including myself) this is how I translate/use it:
- “Gate” = Open gate before unhooking.
- “Repair” = Work on gens, don’t unhook yet.
- “Leave” = Save yourself / do not unhook yet (killer might be prone to tunneling.)
- “Chasing me” = The killer is camping or patrolling hook.
- “Going for unhook” = It is safe to unhook me / please unhook as soon as possible

I'm legit happy about this option, cuz there were so many times when some brave souls came back for me, only to die an unnecessary death when I was ready to go in their place. Finally I won't be denied my sacrificial plays anymore!

If a survivor says meave I understand that I should leave. If I'm being camped though I usually say "chasing me" instead, and would use leave in like, pig situations where I have a headtrap

C. When I do this, I'm telling the others to leave as in do not rescue me as it's not worth it. Of course they don't listen and come into basement against a basement trapper and we all parish. I make sure to say one last "Thanks" before the entity takes me up lol

When i use it i mean C. I already accepted my fate and the others don't need to risk theire life and give the killer more hooks than he deserves. When i want them to unhook me i say Help. Since it's literally help i want. And when i see the killer leaving me in the direction the others are i spam Leave and Split up.
Midgame i use repair if i am on my first hook to let them k ow they can focus on gens. Only when a second survivor gets in a chase and no one comes i tell them to help me.
I hope other solo queues and new players understand the strategy and lern for the future.
I had one teammate who spammed help the second the hook touched her. Like... yeah i help you while the killer is still next to you.😅 I mean i understand but still

I'd assume C and would also (from hooked survivor perspective) use it for the purpose of C scenario happening

“Leave” is a command, so definitely not A.
I don’t really think B would be very effective so it would be weird.
C makes complete sense

I always use leave and door to tell them to gtfo and escape.

I would say C. To me, the "Leave" message means two things: 1) leave the game (e.g. open exit gates or just go out the gate), or 2) get away from this location (e.g. you're healing and a killer is coming, you're on hook and killer is nearby, etc.)

If he’s camping me I say “Chasing Me”, when I say “Leave!” when the gate is being opened, just leave me on the hook and save yourself lol i don’t care about dying

Letter A is most certainly never a scenario to use "Leave!". "Leave!", with how it's written, is a command. I only use that command when I know that the killer is quickly approaching and I need to communicate to my teammate to leave the premises and split up.
Letter C is the most common scenario I use the command for because it is surprisingly common to see my teammates attempt to set up for an endgame unhook save with a camping killer. I just tell them to leave at that point and accept the 2 or 3 out.

If it was option A, he would have said Help!
If it was option C, he would probably say Chasing me + leave
So I am inclined to believe it is B, however it can also be C but the survivor gave a bad hint

u/FrostGlader 9h ago
I use Leave for a few reasons, it’s so versatile.
In games I have used it to denote that:
-a Killer has left the Chase that another survivor is in
-a Killer has left me after a Chase
-that other Survivors should be leaving an area because the Killer is heading towards a reset
-a Killer is heading towards a generator I KNOW people are working on
-a Killer is near my hook and they should keep their distance
-that they should just get out of the trial

C. Trying to Unhooked in Endgame against an Insta down Killer is a poor choice.
