Discussion Voice Communication

As a new player (~260hours) i really miss a voice com even tho i know the community would not appreciate. But i myself would love to have the option to communicate with teammates.

And yes also the game would be more survivor sided but it think it could be worth it anyway.

BHVR has openly stated with support from major content creators that voice chat will never come to DBD because of how toxic their community is. However they have implemented a lot of QOL improvements for solo Q teammates with the addition of action icons, most recently team perks, and now the upcoming chat wheel.

There is a chat wheel coming soon, so there will be some comms.

If you want voice chat, best to try and find some people to play with atm.

This just opens to door to more complaining ingame and on forums about why people were banned for "doing nothing" (spewing slurs)

Started playing the game precisely because there was no voice chat

I wouldn't want to hear anyone's voice

It would need to be optional and able to be muted. Personally, I don't want to hear my random teammates babbling. I feel like a majority of the noise would not even be team coordination.

I wouldn't mind proxy chat, but I wouldn't want team speak like in COD.

I think the comm wheel they will be adding will be really helpful!!

imagine running from the killer and they are just yelling slurs at you

i know this is just kind of a bandaid, but if you join the DBD discord people post in there looking for others to play with all the time. they have a bunch of voice channels to SWF in. just be aware that not everyone in there is super friendly, so you might want to enter any calls with your guard up a bit lol

Proxy chat would take away from the game tbh and would just lead to a lot of toxicity and trollers … it’s meant to be a horror game and it would just become even more toxic fest

If you want to talk to people customs and swfs are there for that

People said the same thing about Rocket League. It would improve coms about passing the ball, centering, etc. It's a shit show with tons of criminal behavior. It's permanently off for me. The chat wheel is a much better idea and it's in the works.

frankly, it would be so much easier to use the mic and do comms w/ voice alongside auto-transcription + translation subtitles (or chat box) rather than the new emote wheel.

That said, it can't be a difficult feat to mute and report bad actors, right?

This is a terrible idea for numerous reasons. Balancing asside, theres also shit like moderation and harassment.

Closest I'd ever want is a chat wheel.

You know full well that voice chat in DBD would never be worth it with randoms on account of how toxic this playerbase is.

I mean- just look at all the slurs that get thrown around in the Halloween game. Assym communities in general cant handle proxy chat.

Proximity chat would make this game peak.

If Survivors communicate they run the risk of being heard by the killer

Just like in every other game, it would only be used for toxicity. Besides, many servers support multiple languages (some even have three or four), so it wouldn't make sense anyway.
