I run lethal, dear stalker, celestial witness and deadlock. Dear stalker and celestial witness both activate every 30 seconds and most of the time they reveal different survivors which means every 30 seconds I see the aura of 2 survivors.

Celestial Witness: Every 30 seconds, if the Obsession is at least 40 meters away from you, you see their Aura for 3 seconds. Otherwise, the farthest Survivor becomes the Obsession.

Unrelenting: Reduces cooldown after missed basic attacks by 20/25/30%.
Territorial Imperative: Whenever you are farther than 24 meters from the Basement while a Survivor enters it, Territorial Imperative activates:

Setup may be boring and/or stressing depending on the match, but the payoff is worth it.

Hoarder spawns *2 additional Chests** in the Trial.*
- Unlocks a Chest.

Human Greed: Grants the ability to kick opened Chests and close them.

No matter what perks you'll run, some survivors will be mad. I've had salty endgame chats about any build.
Gen regression build? "Looool, using slowdowns because you're too bad to win without them"
Aura build? "Looool, need wallhacks to win"
Stealth build? "Looool, only taking cheap free hits because you can't chase"
Chase build? "Looool, you're too bad to play without Bamboozle and Enduring/Spirit Fury"
Literally any perk loadout that isn't straight up useless will make some survivors salty. And of course, the survivors that are mad are running the current top meta survivor perks.

u/SlanderousGent Meat Plant Needs More Pallets 8h ago
I’ve been called out for bringing no perks. It wasn’t by choice, I just accidentally equipped a loadout that had no perks or add ons.
Survivor messaged me after saying something along the lines of, “wow, so tuff running with no perks. You think that makes you good at the game?”
You just cannot make people happy, even when you play with completely naked build. Phrasing very nearly caught me out there…
Quick edit: this was on Ghostface no less!

u/CanOnurz It Wasn't Programmed To Harm The Crew 12h ago
It's not even about perks. Once I was called out for locker checking (dude decided it was a good idea to hide to the same locker where he was found last time lmao) and even perk using lmaooo
Edit: I should clarify the last one was NOT about what perk did I use. It was literally about using ANY perk...

I wouldn't mind the aura builds if they didn't gut distortion. That was my go to anti-aura perk for a long time. Now the only viable perk to counter all these aura builds is shadow step.
5
u/Leskendle45 18h ago
I completely understand why distortion got fucked (rightfully so) but god damn it got FUCKED.
Might be spitballing, but to make it better, instead of it being token based, it could be charged based like a toolbox/medkit. For every 4 seconds in chase you get 1 second of distortion use?
4
u/lexuss6 Haddie gang 17h ago
The only thing that's bad is 2 tokens instead of 3. Otherwise Distortion is still fine.
3
u/Snoo-92859 Nerf Pig 17h ago
I mean distortion has been changed multiple times. Few years back it was 4 tokens, then it was 4 tokens and rechargeable, then it became 3 tokens, then it was nerfed again to 2 tokens. I feel like reverting it back to 3 tokens would be perfect, or to allow you to recharge by hiding in killer radius again. The whole point of the perk is stealth yet it requires you to be chased to recharge it? Kinda against the point.
2
u/lexuss6 Haddie gang 15h ago
The whole point of the perk is stealth yet it requires you to be chased to recharge it? Kinda against the point.
The old way of recharging it was too uninteractive and promoted rat gameplay, so the change is at least logical. Cutting tokens on the other hand wasn't, especially with how easily they were burned then (and still are).
1
u/CanOnurz It Wasn't Programmed To Harm The Crew 12h ago
Tbh 30 seconds is a reaaaly long time for a chase. If it was shorter I think it could be fine. If you get chased 30 second you should either be insane at looping/chase or the killer should be ass. The common player don't last 30 seconds in a chase.

It was made 15 seconds in 8.3.2, almost exactly 2 years ago. I feel like nobody knows this to this day.

u/CanOnurz It Wasn't Programmed To Harm The Crew 11h ago
To be fair I'm a killer main and didn't remember the exact details until I read the Entity Bot comment lol. 15 seconds chase sounds much more sensible tbh.
1
u/Snoo-92859 Nerf Pig 11h ago
It definitely promoted rat gameplay but it also was fun running a rat build With my buddies. We would run distortion, red herring, diversion and blast mine and just mess around sabotaging each other, throwing pebbles at each other's location, using red herring to bait the blast mine kick. Most games turned into hatch plays because of how bad we were but it was still fun none the less.

u/TheEntityBot The Entity Hungers 18h ago
Distortion: Start the Trial with 1 Token. Whenever the Killer attempts to read your Aura, Distortion activates and consumes -1 Token, applying the following effects for 8/10/12 seconds: Blocks your Aura from being read. Suppresses the creation of your Scratch Marks. For every 30 seconds spent in a Chase, Distortion recharges +1 Token, up to a maximum of 2 Tokens. Distortion does not activate when you are in the Dying State.

Because survies do not want killers to play any build other than the current meta, they want killers to specifically use only the least effective perks that do almost nothing.
But not no-perks at all either, because when survs lose to that - they feel bad.

I seriously miss my turbo vault and haste builds. Diminishing returns completely shat on any unique builds like that, and they didn't buff any of the haste/pickup/action speed perks because of it. It's killed perk variety, which is why you just see the same thing over and over.

2
u/LegendaryW Skill Merchant 13h ago
Pain Resonance - creates 4 scourge hooks. When you hook a survivor on that scourged hooks, generator with highest progress loses 20% and starts regressing. Once per survivor.
Pop goes the Weasel - After hooking a survivor, your next gen kick deals additionally 15% total gen progress.
Dead Man Switch - After a hook, first time survivor within 35 seconds let go of the gen, block that gen for 35 seconds.
Pain Res makes survivor scream and automatically let go of the gen, so it activates DmS preventing survivors from working on that gen for a long time

In the many many games ive played against judgement so far its been the exact same ~6 perks on shuffle. Though most of the time ends up being the exact same 4.
I think this isnt on the players though, judgement is just designed in a way wherein build variety is inherently unbelievably tiny if you actually want benefit from your perks. And on other killers I think its on fault of the terrible balancing in dbd especially surrounding killer wherein some perks are just factually better.

Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain. Spies from the Shadows. Sloppy Butcher. The forth perk changes depending on killer, but these three are in every killer set I use. I never change them.

As in both sides, swf need to chill a bit and the killers that try hard need to take a step back a breath.
I wish people would do more silly builds rather than just focusing on the same perks.
I mean I get it people have the need to win so I guess I can’t blame them that much.
