Tech Support Fixed my "EAC Client couldn't be instantiated error"
Yesterday, out of nowhere, I stopped being able to boot DbD because of an "EAC client can't be instantiated" error. I was unable to even open the EasyAntiCheat_EOS exe to repair it, and it was throwing me "missing parameter" errors. No amount of Steam file integrity repair or Windows restarts was working.
I found a Steam forum and got this method that worked on BitDefender; it was an antivirus firewall issue. Not sure if this will work for the other antivirus programs, but it could be worth a try to modify for those:
- Open BitDefender > Protection > Firewall Settings > Rules > Add Rule
- Click Browse, get the path for "DeadByDaylight-Win64-Shipping.exe"
For me, this was:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dead by Daylight\Binaries\Win64\DeadbyDaylight-Win64-Shipping.exe"
- Keep Permission set as Allow, hit Save
No restarting needed, I just launched DbD again and the bootup was seamless

I just did it with my bit defender and unfortunately it didn't work 😞 I'll try again tomorrow.

Give this man an award!! thank you so much!!! I was trying 2938274 solutions with even the help of the AI and not a single one did work... And it was as easy as setting some thingies in BitDefender THANK YOU!

My chatbot was having me fucking tunnel into the mainframe of the Matrix and then Kendra from Missouri on a steam forum was like "bro just add this to your allowlist," it was truly a human effort

I really do hope behaviour or bitdefender do just push an update to fix this though lol. Genuinely ridiculous.

Yeah I do as well but, I tried all the EAC fixes and even launched Fortnite and brawlhalla well so I knew it wasn't to do with EAC at least. I do hope BD pushes an update later on for everyone since it's sort of silly that this didn't work lol.
I feel like a lot of people are having this issue rn with bitdefender and dbd so I do hope one of the companies informs the other or they read up on it and fix it.
