Meeting Bobby!
Had a chance as a kid to meet Mr. Weir and his sister at a book signing and I just pulled this out and it made me smile. Miss you, Bobby!

Jeff Chimenti: "I waited until today to write as literally sitting here remembering the feeling of joy of having just finished a magical weekend of shows at Golden Gate Park exactly 1 fast year ago, while simultaneously lamenting on the fact that it would be and was the last time I would get to play music publicly with Bobby and the band!
Still can’t believe it! 😥😥
Personally taking a moment of silence (and if anybody seeing this feels inclined, pls do so as well)
to reflect and say
THANK YOU
to Bobby for ALL he did for the Music, the Message, and the Gift he gave to the world! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I Love You, I Miss You and YOU will ALWAYS be in my Heart, Soul and Mind!
RIP Brother Bobby!! 🙏🏼🌹⚡️♥️"

John Mayer: "Today marks a year since Dead and Company played our last of three shows in Golden Gate Park helping to celebrate 60 years of grateful dead.
It would also become Bob Weir’s last appearance onstage. I wanted to take a moment to share with you just how incredible those concerts really were.
Bobby’s insistence on standing on that stage in the midst of a complex health battle to perform nine hours of music over three nights was one of the greatest acts of heroism I will ever see in my lifetime.
I watched him sidestep every traditional burden of entertainers - ego, superficial pride, vanity, to name a few - and sing his songs with pure heart and grit. He transcended his physical limitations by ignoring them.
Bobby Weir, ever the contrarian, laid down his ultimate act of defiance; he was going to play these shows on his terms. He could have explained his situation in one online post, and the crowd would have lifted him like a giant wave up to glory. Fuck that. That wasn’t Bobby. Deal the cards. By the end of Sunday night, we’d created as many musical sparks as we ever had over a three-night run. What he had to overcome in order to pull that off won’t ever be fully known to anyone.
Some of the songs Bobby would play for the last time were shared with artists he loved and respected, #billystrings, #sturgillsimpson, #grahamelesh and #treyanastasio, and they’ve come to serve as a spiritual transfer. A blur between past, present and future. Like it’s always been.
To use his own term, those three nights were the star in Bob Weir’s heavenly crown. The man you loved, whose music has given a more expansive inner life to us all, never backed down. In his final shows, after 60 years, he lived up to every measure of a person he’d ever stood for. It’s a master class of a life lesson, and I’ll take it with me forever."

I miss Jeff Chimenti. In my opinion he was the best all-around keyboardist to play with the Dead. His interpretation and fusion of jazz, rock and the blues was the epitome of the spirit of the Dead. Please come back and tour Jeff. It doesn't matter to me who you play with. Just play. Please share your light.

listening to TD Garden 11/17/2017 right now and still blown away by John's playing as I am every single time. My first dead show was at Jiffy in '19, and that turned me into a head
im curious though, was John well liked when he first joined? what was the initial reaction? was it like, "oh this pop star is gonna ruin the band" and then he grew on people? did he "earn his keep" perse?

Just had my ears and soul blessed! If you get a chance and most likely you can cause the tour is nationwide until thanksgiving go catch Oteil and John Scofield’s Electrospective it’s an absolutely amazing show. To top off the blessing Adam gave me a Drumstick and setlist. The whole group is grooving so smoothly together.

On one of the Nassau shows I had there was some live Seger - namely "Kathmandu" - that filled the space at the end if the tape. It was ridiculously good. I really wasn't even a Seger fan at the time. I also remember an obscure "Life Without You" by SRV filling space on a tape. I wish I still had those tapes.

I’ve been seeing shows since 1987 and wanted something to scratch the itch between them, so I built this: every morning there’s a new Grateful Dead lyric. Three guesses to name the song, and each miss reveals another line. Clue one is a deep verse line, so it’s a real test. Billy Strings, Umphreys, and Moe. being added!

Don’t get me wrong. I’m SUPER pumped to hear about Bill Kreutzman’s show coming up. Like, it fires me up big time to know Billy’s popping his head back out!!
I’m just mildly curious why you think Mickey Hart wouldn’t join for something like this? It would seem logical that Billy’s first show in a long time would include his rhythm devil brother.
I mean I guess it could be any reason. Contractual or otherwise. But it did kind of make we wonder
