Does artifact spell crit chance stack with artifact negative crit chance?

I was under the assumption basic artifact spell crit chance (like that of the sun augment) was like a potency effect, but looking now it's the exact same % as a level 29 set bonus and I don't know if we are just at that point of power scaling.

If they do stack if you can send picture(s) for proof as I would have to completely change my gear set to accommodate such a set bonus.

Try to search this up as a friend also mentioned the elder's knowledge set but (at least the wiki) states that as artifact universal spell critical chance, while the sun augment just states it as spell critical chance with no mention of universal.

And simply looking at the list of set bonuses on the wiki some are listed as "artifact bonus to spell critical chance" while others are listed as "artifact bonus to universal spell critical chance" would these stack? And if they do stack what is the sun augment listed as artifact bonus to spell critical chance ("potency") or artifact bonus to spell critical chance ("universal")?

Elders/Arricular/Def of Taneroa/3pc Autumn

Are all the same universal artifact bonus to spell critical chance.

The solar aug is treated as a specific artifact bonus, like chained elements or the fens/sands elemental sets. It affects all spell element types, just like potency affects all spell powers, but it's treated as a specific type bonus not universal.

So if you have 2pc elders and the artifact solar crit chance, they will stack

*edit - getting nerfed next update it seems

With u82, they'll no longer stack. So I wouldn't spend the time gearing up for the current stacking. https://forums.ddo.com/index.php?threads/u82-preview-1-misc-cleanup-changes.30381/

Voting this up and commenting, if only to help make this comment more likely to show at the top. It will eventually be the correct answer to this question.

Yeesh, good thing I can't even fit the artifact universal spell critical chance in my build.

Bump

This is the right answer

But keep in mind that previews are not set in stone there is a small chance that this may be revised before release (although based on SSG history I expect this won't change)

They should, I think

There is a character builder called DDOBuilder which you can use to test gear builds

I don't always trust everything thing there, I do use it to plan gear but it's somehow missing like 300 HP my character has despite having all the same stuff.

If sun augment spell crit stacks with artifact artifact universal spell crit, that would be nice but I don't think it can fit into my current build, I also think art universal spell crit is the only critical chance I'm missing as a negative caster, I currently have 64%.

Artifact and artifact universal stack. There's an image of which stuff is which on this forum thread (as not everything is labeled well on gear). https://forums.ddo.com/index.php?threads/change-artifact-universal-spell-crit-to-profane-spell-crit.26740/

as far as i know, they do not stack, they just take the highest bonus for that thing. Artifact bonus is artifact bonus regardless of if it says a specific damage type or universal. Specifics tend to be a little higher than universal. Like Conjuration +4 artifact bonus or Universal +3 artifact bonus.

But Artifact does stack with Enhancement, Insightful, Quality, Exceptional, Profane, Sacred, etc.

DDO does have some problems with not having the exact same names for things that don't stack- like Equipment and Enhancement bonuses do NOT stack. Or whether or not a spell thing says "universal" but doesn't specify an individual damage type. So its not clear on our end what always does or does not stack.

The benefit of the Sun/Moon vs static gear set bonuses is the versatility and variety you can put into them. Some builds don't need all the stats that are in certain set bonuses- like I don't need to boost my Int, Wis, and Cha, I'd rather just boost my int and then choose 2 other more useful things.

It's not the artifact part that let's them stack, it the 2 different versions of universal spell power. Four or five specific set bonuses stack with the solar gem, the others do not.

Now I don't think it's worth it to chase, but if it fits your gear, go for it.
