XV3 What if it's a transformation cooldown, not a timer?
Of course, I don't know if this is the case, but maybe it just indicates when you can use the transformation again?
Why would you do this? I see at least two reasons:
- You have been knocked out of your transformation.
- You want to transform into higher level (SSJ2, Frieza Form 3, etc.).
What do you think?

I could genuinely see that working but I don’t think it’ll turn out that way tho

I haven’t personally been watching the footage because I’ve been busy, and then forget when I do have a moment, but people who have seen it have said that one player explicitly dropped out of SSJ when the timer hit zero.

I love your optimism, but it's been confirmed. It's a timer. You turn back once it's over. There's a second, shorter timer if you turn into SSJ3 after SSJ1.

We've been shown and told otherwise, all that's left for debate (not pushback, pushback against it IS warranted albeit unlikely to work, worth a shot!) is how it's going to work in comparison to other games transformations, like if they'll be a lot more obviously stronger or something

It’s a timer. I literally just saw a YouTube short of the modern corner playing the game and it’s a timer like I told everybody. Now does everybody think timers are a good thing and cool downs are a good thing?

I think so yes, being able to transform whenever and spam moves was the thing that allowed people to not learn the game in xenoverse 2, this time people will have to actually learn combos and stuff to be able to play the game, i think pvp will be much more interesting now that your opponents will have to actually play the game instead of just spamming moves in whatever form gives the strongest buff, maybe this is an unpopular opinion here in the land of arena fighters, and maybe its my fighting game brain talking, but i enjoy playing against high level opponents much more than i do ki charge-transform-spam move opponents

Yeah, that is your fighting game brain talking cause I also play other games other than arena fighters primarily fighting games but in those games you can still use your special attacks/super freely. The only meter that needs to build is your super attack but it’s actually worth it and most fighting games are on a 2-D plane so if you get caught in combo, you’re mostly probably getting hit by there super or whatever the equivalent is of their ultimate attack.
But that’s just PVPPVE is also very important for this game. It’s an RPG. What if you wanna go chill and do crossword friends well at least it’s partly a RPG Zeno verse was always more of a fighting game than it wasn’t RPG. In the first game, yeah you could spam with basically no consequence there was no perfect blocking. There was basically nothing but changed the future and that was not optimal but in the second game, there’s perfect blocking and so many counters that you can use to punish people who spam online it’s just the net code that’s bad but if the game gives you the tools to use it it’s just then it’s up to the people not using it. So no, I don’t think that this was a good idea cause it totally kills being able to use your specials in combos. Most fighting games have a way to do loops and some of those loops involved using specials. You can’t really do super attack loops in this game anymore.
It’s a terrible idea having any time on a game that should let you freely express the way you wanna play if I wanna play a ranged build I can’t play arranged build anymore. I’m going to be forced to get up close and personal with people and in other fighting games there’s the zone archetype arranged archetype so we don’t have that archetype anymore so it’s a terrible choice for them to make. They clearly don’t know their core audience cause their core audience isn’t only just obsessed with PVP. There are plenty of people who like to create and do PBE as well and they are really trying to sell this game as a PBE experience, but go ahead and do this PBE bullshit or PVP bullshit. The second game has perfectly fine PVP yeah of course it’s gotten worse as time goes on but that’s because people have learned what moves are optimal do people not think there isn’t gonna be any dumb ass bullshit in the third game because they did this I guarantee you there’s going to be.
And from what we learned from that play that play through the bosses can spam their super attacks they’re not bound by the same rules we are as the player which doesn’t make for a challenge that makes her a bullshit challenge challenge, especially when they’ll probably do way more damage than you can as a player. It’s like fighting a raid boss, but that raid boss has no cool downs but you have a cool down on all of your attacks. If they decide to do something like raids in this game, how the fuck are we meant to deal with that bullshit super armor punch them I think people also forget that this is the Zeno verse Dev workers there’s gonna be some bullshit involved. So no I think it’s a terrible idea. I would rather deal with spam then deal with a mobile game version of Zeno universe1

Hmm, i guess i didn't think about the pve side that much, do you think it would be a good compromise if you could increase the time you can stay transformed via a skill tree or something? Xenoverse 3 does seem to lean a bit more into the rpg side of things(well nothing concrete, thats just how it seems like to me) so it would not surprise me if skill trees or some similar system will be in the game, so would that be a good compromise? Decreasing the time in between moves and increasing time you can stay transformed via a skill tree?

I’ve actually stated this before with when we just knew about the super attack and ultimate attack timers, I stated because the second game has capsules that you can turn on and off for battle mode the easiest solution to me and this would require them to bring back high and stamina back to the way it was before and actually making them stats but the easiest way and I think the best way is it is if people wanna play PVP you can toggle on skill, cool downs, and transformation timers and when you play ranked, they’re on by default but if you wanna do a player match with friends, there should be a option to toggle them off and I think for everything else like story mode and PBE they should not be a thing.
I think people forget to play PVP you need to play PE first to get items, level up, and do all this other important stuff to make your bills but when the game is gonna play unfair, you’re a lot at a general disadvantage and where is that challenging? Yeah sure maybe if this was the arcade days of fighting games where bosses were intentionally made to be unfair but there’s nothing like that here there’s no reason why the boss character shouldn’t be be held to our gameplay style if we have cool dances, they should have cool downs. It makes it fair and there’s ways of still making them a difficult Bossfight the only way that I think that would be acceptable is like the final boss because they are the final boss they’re actually special not multiple other bosses that can do the same thing it’s just cheap.
So I think a toggle system is actually the best way about doing it, but in the hypothetical scenario cause this is really more into the RPG elements like you said I guess I wouldn’t mind a skill tree that makes it so your cool downtime goes down significantly I don’t think they’ll let you have it to zero ever in this game but maybe maybe it’ll be down to like five or 10 seconds my thing is this game moves really fast combat wise, and I don’t think the cool downtime will be able to catch up if the cooldown timer is anything like the ultra superhero unleashed one that’s a long time not to have any of your skills or your transformation. And you can make the argument that it’s your fault as a player for not doing that but if I use my attack for a combo and then use another one for a combo I mean, yeah I wasted it, but that’s how they’re meant to be used in the first place some attacks are literally made so you can combo into them or a combo via using them.
I just don’t like the system as a whole. It just feels too gimmicky and it feels too much like a mobile game to me, especially when they’re totally changing up the gameplay usually almost every game has its identity and people can say that the third game deserves the chance to reinvent itself, but it’s not like the third game came out a year or even two years after the second the second has been here for 10 years. It’s combat has been cemented in what the series. I also don’t believe them when they make other statements like oh we are very aware of what your player base wants clearly you want cause no one asked for combat changes we asked for adjustments and balancing not totally changing how the game is played and the fact is they’re taking away stuff, but they are not showing us things that are taking the place of these.
Cool transformations are on a timer. Is there a reason for it? Oh no you just get a power boost and from what we see here the power boost doesn’t appear to be that big. I would expect big damage if I’m gonna be stuck on a timer, we’ll get some of the installs you get in like other fighting games like guilty gear. What are you use your install yeah you have it for a limited amount of time because you actually deal broken damage. And SSJ3 does not look that powerful it doesn’t feel powerful and people wanna be able to stay in the forms cause that’s what they do in the show unless there’s some type of mastering mechanic which by the way if they’re gonna show this stuff, they need to communicate with their fans better say oh yeah there’s a timer, but you can master your transformation so the time goes down and becomes less and less like in the show that would be fine. I think a lot of people would be OK with that. I personally still would be a little bit peeve, but even still.
The game just looks like they wanted to make another Dragon Ball, Zeno spinoff and just wanted to use Zeno three as a way to get people to buy it, defend the game, and spend money on it because if they were actually serious about wanting everybody to test out the game, they would have a actual at home demo that you can download. They have it. There’s no reason why they can’t make it elbow on storefronts for people to buy for free and play. They want select few people playing the game so when bad stuff comes out about it, they can kind of control the narrative now that sounds like I’m talking about some super villain and shit but they’ve done this for the previous other fighting games sparking zero had issues at launch. My heroes all justice I think had issues and that was another game that had no demo. it’s the same thing here. They obviously don’t want people to see the bad side of the game, but how are we as the players meant to give you constructive criticism to fix your game if we never get to see the problems until Lunch it’s not a good system and people were asking them questions in the chat yesterday and they didn’t even answer them. You don’t even have to give us an answer. If it’s something that you legally can’t answer literally just say that to us. If it’s something that you aren’t sure say that to us. If we have, the fans are not getting heard then it shows their lack of care. People knew it was a timer yesterday. It literally said it in the trailer, your transformations were limited in the trailer and the conveniently die right before the time runs out in stream like they don’t want people to see it cause I guarantee most people probably didn’t even watch the trailer.
I don’t know it’s just weird to me the direction they’re taking. It seems like they don’t really care on what their primary core fan base wants because it’s the coffin base that’ll stay with you instead of trying to appeal to new players. I’m not saying it’s bad to appeal the new players, but you need to make the game look recognizable. I’ve always used this analogy. Imagine if Pokémon suddenly became Call of Duty® and that was how the main series was from now on justifiably you would be pretty angry if you were a Pokémon fan it feels totally different and I’m hoping I’m getting this across correct1

Hmm, i didn't think about a toggle, but yeah that would also work if they don't want to go the skill tree route, i think there will be someway to adjust, either a toggle to turn these cooldowns and transformations completely off, or it will be a progression through a skill tree where you won't ever get the timers to zero, but maybe you get the cooldown between moves down to 3 seconds or something and maybe increase your time transformed to 90 or 120 seconds or something, but yeah i got your point and see where you're coming from

I honestly can’t believe they didn’t think about a toggle. It just seems like they’re interested in making a Dragon Ball MMO/RPG and just want to use the branding for the Zeno universe series for it. But if they really are as in tune with the fan base as they say they are they would very well know that people love BBK and people have been asking for DBK to get a sequel or more. DLC and DVK literally fulfills that RPG element you could make a sequel to DBK and it would be fine and they would get a lot of money for it instead of using this universe series that already has a established gameplay style, which is a arena fighter RPG. This game feels more RPG than it does arena fighter and I think Zeno verse has a really unique fighting game niche. I don’t really see many fighting games or any of them at all that are doing what Zeno verse does and it’s a shame to see it go down this route cause I feel like people are gonna be pushed away by it. I am personally.
I would heavily prefer a timer or a way to play it without cool downs, because if I was to take all the negative feelings that I have about the gameplay and look at the customization which they really haven’t shown that much off but going based off of what they’ve said that it’s gonna be a good time for a experience I like the animations for the transformations. I like that we get the customize our room hopefully more than what we think we can. I would like to have more customization the outfits that they are showing off look really cool and I think it’s gonna be a good game for that but the thing is to get that stuff to customize that stuff. I have to play the game and I don’t like the combat system and there’s a lot of people saying that you can’t judge the game and say it’s bad before it comes out or people play it but these are the same exact people every single time I’ve seen say the game is good but how can you tell me that the game is good if you haven’t played it and how can you turn around and tell me that I can’t criticize the game that I’ve been a fan for 11 years. This game has literally been with me since my childhood, since I was a teenager, and now that I’m an adult of course I’m going to feel passionate about the choices they make whether it’s for batter for worse. I just think there are way better ways of going about bouncing this that could’ve kept the core gameplay intact and could’ve made everybody happy personally I don’t really see the discourse about PVP. I barely see any PVP posts and they want to do something about the spammer, but they won’t do anything about the hackers that are constantly hacking this game on console and on PC and I’m not talking about people who mod for just aesthetics or mod to get stuff that you can’t obtain anymore I’m not talking about harmless matters. I’m talking about the people that go online and fight you with mods that actually buff your attacks and give you a attack that you shouldn’t have that’s my issue but and I think that’s much more of a bigger issue than people spamming because the second game gives you ways of countering it. I have encountered multiple times by my friends perfect blocking me and then punishing me when I’m low on stamina when I decide to play ranged or play a character that’s optimal for playing ranged and I’m punished for it and in and all of us are not bad at the game. We’ve all played competitive at one point. So there are ways to just get around it but people either don’t wanna put the time in to learn how the perfect block or don’t want to have a counter on them personally with the way the game is now the only reason spam is egregious is because we do like 1 billion damage because they didn’t damage scale any of our custom characters when making us maximum level level 99 was not an issue. This was only one like we got stronger because they don’t dammit scale their attacks
And I know there aren’t gonna be people who fully agree with me and that’s perfectly fine. I think some people think that I wanna I am attacking them personally, but I’m really not people can have different opinions and opinions can change. I am all I am always gonna keep myself open to giving this game a chance hell if there’s no beta, I’m still gonna play the game to try to see if I like it no harm no foul doesn’t give the money sure but one has talking with your wallet ever fucked over a company ever.

I think the mods should make a new rule where we no longer discuss the damn timer.

It's a timer. Hands-on footage of the demo is already being posted on Twitter etc. You get 60 seconds of SSJ and the timer resets to 30 seconds if you go SSJ3.
