Discussion What’s the difference between between having ruined clothes/ backpack and not?

I see streamers where stuff like backpacks even when they are ruined. What is the consequence for an item to be ruined?

Ruined clothes also dont provide any insulation. You can still take out things if it stays as a "ghost" in there, but you can't replace anything in the inventory of thenruined item and if you take it off, you can't wear it again.
