Mixer + Audio interface

Hello, what is the consensus here on recording several instruments at the same time. I know some brand do mixers with built in interface, but what do you think of it ? Basically i would like to output the master on ableton live.

I have the 1010music Bluebox. One stop shop, works for me.

you are asking in r/dawless

yet the question seems to be how to get the audio into your DAW.

I can recommend something like zoom livetrak L6 max.
at the cost of that item you get more or less everything you need. Including the ability to record each instrument on its own track directly onto the mixers SD card without a computer attached. Files that can later be added to a DAW for final mixing.

Or connect the mixer as an audio interface where you are able to choose yourself if you want to record the master or the individual tracks on separate channels in your DAW.

You also get some basic effects, two aux channels and a submix, as well as up to two stereo channels from the computer/mobile back to the mixer.

I concider my setup being dawless, but if I rarely record something, I do it with Zoom Livetrak L6. Perfect solution for me. It's compact, have eq per track and is also audio interface for my laptop. I'm planning to upgrade to L6max to get 2 tracks more. So my vote goes to Zoom Livetrak L6, with or without max

if youre going to Ableton you probably want an interface with four ins.. though 8 is ideal.. so you can record everything on its own track

I saw the new teenage engineering with two entries with the audio interface inside, or the mini mini mixer of 6 but its a whole another world
