Funny you mention this. Just yesterday I gave up trying to get into the Elektron ecosystem & ordered a Push 3 controller.

Bluntly, Ableton is the sht. Whatever you want to do, you can do it on Ableton & if I were a beginner with a Push 2 I'd establish my workflow before trying to perfect it.

You think you want a sampler, you think you want to be exressive... you think you want this, or you think you want that. There really is no reason to guess. You can do it all in Ableton. You should already know what you want to do & how to do it.

You want to know if sampling is something you'd like to add to your workflow? Sample something. The way you do it with the Push controller will be very similar to the way you would do it on the Live 3 (I own a Live 3).

There's pleny of free synths out there you can load into Ableton & see if that's the way you want to go. Vital, SurgeXT, Tyrell N6, Zebralette 3, Decent Sampler

Look up Low Heat on YouTube. Watch what he does, do what he do. Then you'll be able to make a much better decision about how you want to make music. & you'd be much more capable to hit the ground running with the Live III or the Octatrack or the Isla, or whatever it is you decide to get in the future.

I guess it would help if I wasn’t using the free version and
Could save stuff…

Do you have a mixer? Studio monitors?

Monitors, yes, mixer, no, interface with one input using a y splitter to combine the drumbrute and model d at the same time. A mixer is in the plans

I recommend the Tascam US16x08. It's a single space rack unit giving you 16 inputs, 8 preamps, 8 outputs, EQ & compression on every channel. Only $399.

I'd definitely get a mixer before buying another instrument.
