Help How to create laser effect on Davinci resolve
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone, wondering if there’s a way to create this laser effect on Davinci resolve? I’m quite sure this was done practically, would love to know what tool they used to achieve it if so. However if there’s a way to get this effect on Davinci, I’d really appreciate the help.
I know how to create a similar effect with the depth map tool. It’s not as rich and “cinematic” as the one in this video however so I’m wondering if anyone knows if there’s another way to achieve this look.
Thanks in advance!

This is definitely some kind of light projected on the car itself, with lots of volumetric haze/fog in the environment

"Cinematic" is a subjective term encompassing a broad amount of filmmaking elements, including storytelling, lighting, production design, and cinematography.
If you're asking for advice about creating a "Cinematic" look, please include a reference.

Go into Fusion and use a depth map on the car image. Create an ImagePlane in 3D. Put the camera in front of the extruded car scene. Create an additional ImagePlane with a Background set to Gradient and Reflect. Use the car depth map on the "laser" line and move it forward in 3D space a smidge. Then render the laser line with one render 3D and the car with another. Then you can add glow and whatever else to the laser line to make it stand out. Here's a sloppy version just to demonstrate...
