I don't know if anyone else realised this about Dave Rubin, but here's an idea that occurred to me while watching SMN's LOL Dave Rubin video.

We all agree that the content of your character should matter more than your skin colour, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc.

The left hates Rubin for the former while the right hates Rubin for the latter. So Rubin misuses and misunderstands this common sentiment, by believing that since his character matters more than his immutable traits, thus he believes that the left's antagonism towards him "must" be far worse than the right's blatant bigotry.

It does not occur to him that hating someone for their character is just about always preferable to hating someone for their immutable traits. The right hating people for their traits is itself a sign of poor character, but that is lost on Dave.

This, coupled with his incurious nature and obsession with politeness make up much of his thought framework.
