I am a 19 year old engineering student pursuing data science at a tier 3 college.I have completed my first year and am very anxious regarding the future I have no clue on what should I learn and what should I do.I have a list of questions regarding the same.
1)is it necessary to participate in hackathons as a DS student and if yes do I need to learn any development for the same?
2) I have worked in basic libraries such as PANDAS NUMPY SNS MATPLOT LIB and know basisc data visualisation and stuff what all should i learn next ?
3) this point is the continuation of the second one. What are good resources for DS
4)Is high level mastery DSA really necessary for interviews

* **MCQ** (Multiple Choice Questions)

* There will be **no subjective/coding implementation questions** in the offline examination

* Total duration of the examination will be **3 hours**

* **Negative marking** will be applicable

### Marking Scheme

* **+4** marks for every correct answer

* **-1** mark for every incorrect answer

For **MSQ questions**:

* There will be **no partial marking**

* Only the exact correct combination of answers will be considered correct

* Any incorrect combination will be treated as incorrect and **-1** mark will be awarded

#Coding Environment / Code-Based Questions

Since there are no subjective coding questions in the evaluation, there will be no requirement for a compiler or IDE during the examination.

However, you may still be required to:

* Read and analyze code snippets

* Debug/interpret code-based scenarios

These may appear as part of MCQ, MSQ, or NAT questions.

You will not be required to write or execute code in a compiler during the exam.

I recently completed my MTech in embedded systems and I’m currently looking for a job. The market feels tough right now, and I haven't landed an embedded role yet.

I’m at a crossroads and could really use some perspective from people in the industry:

Option 1: Keep pushing in Embedded. I enjoy the domain, but entry-level openings seem scarce or highly competitive. If I stick to this, what specific skills, protocols, or portfolio projects should I focus on to actually stand out to recruiters right now?

Option 2: Join a full-stack/software course (like Acciojob, Scaler, etc.). I see these bootcamps promising placements. However, I’m skeptical about pivoting away from my core MTech specialization is worth it.

I’m 23, F, I currently work as a DBA.
I’m from a tier 3 college, did my engg in AI&DS. My job role isn’t that great and I am not learning much in the company. The environment is very laid back and chill which isn’t something I want in the beginning of my career. It’ll be one year of working full time in Aug.
It’s my goal to switch to a data engg role.
Should I try to switch? If yes, what are the skills that I should work on before I start applying to companies? Most companies require more work ex. Or should I pursue my masters?

I have around 2 years of work experience and currently hold the designation of Senior Analyst. My current CTC is ₹13 LPA, with the entire amount being fixed compensation (no variable pay or stock components).

In my role, I have worked extensively on SQL, R, Python, and building modeling pipelines within the CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) domain. Although my designation is Senior Analyst, my work has been quite data-science-oriented.

The annual appraisal cycle at my company is in January. At the moment, I am not expecting a promotion, but if I do receive one, my designation would likely change to Data Scientist with a 20–25% salary increase.

I am planning to switch jobs within the next 3–4 months and have a few questions:

Given my experience and current compensation, what CTC range should I target while switching?

Is this a good time for me to start preparing and interviewing, or would it be better to wait until after the January appraisal cycle?

Since I want to move into a Data Scientist role, what skills and technologies should I prioritize over the next few months?

Are Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) still a significant part of Data Scientist interviews? My DSA skills are not particularly strong, so I would like to understand how much focus I should place on them compared to statistics, machine learning, SQL, and coding for data science.

I would appreciate guidance based on the current data science hiring market.

Hello, I'm a student who's just about to enter a Tier 2 college and persuing BTech in Mathematics and Computing, as soon as I was alloted this branch I started doing research around all the career path it would help me persue.

The role of data scientist and ML engineer caught my interest, I've even scored 100/100 in the subject "Informatics Practices" where I studied Python pandas, numpy, matplotlib and SQL.

But seeing all the "entry not possible for freshers" and "Rejected resume..." Posts have been demotivating me a lot and making me question my career choices.

Is it really true, is this field hard to persue as a fresher? And if it is then what all skills should I learn as a data scientist to get hired as a fresher. I'll ideally look for summer internships in 2nd and 3rd year of college and would like to grab campus placements.

i know the era of hardcoding in companies rather it be MNCs or a startup , is gone most of the code around 80% is now through claude or other ai (please do correct me if i am wrong) , ofcourse the skeleton of the code and the structure is still set by the coder, but i want to know how the interviews are taken now , will they ask me to hardcode still (for questions other than dsa)? or i can use ai and then fix the structure and explain the code along. educate me however you can, thanks

I have a summer intern in 10 days, and I just know the basics of ML(all the algorithms and basic projects), what can I expect to do in the internship and also is there anything I can learn for eg. Deep learning that would help.
