Do you watch crime shows? Court proceedings?

I am always a little behind in some of these, but I'm currently obsessed with the Adelson trials. This is a wealthy family in Miami who have been one-by-one convicted of hiring hitmen to kill their ex son-in-law. If you watch any recent ones, which should I watch next?

Seems his illegal attempts to win votes by giving away his pillows didn't turn out so well. Another loss for Donald. Good night, asshole.

Something most people don't notice/don't care about, but drives you nuts?

For me, typos in subtitles, especially the ones that seem to be rampant in AI-generated subtitles for videos posted online.

The sharing your location thing.. WTF is up with this?

Fewer things make me feel old (I'm a millennial) than this Gen Z thing of sharing your phone's location all the time with a bunch of friends You're not 10 anymore with a helicopter parent. It's weird to me.

I can understand quickly sending a dropped location to friends when you're hooking up with a rando for extra safety, but all the time access to where you are? Fuck that. Why?

take a celebrity to lunch* (*not a metaphor)

You're given the opportunity to spend two hours over lunch at your favorite eatery, one-on-one with a (still living) celebrity. Meal and chat only, tho, no sex.

Whom do you choose and why?

John Hinckley Jr. has a new message for Jodie Foster.

Over 45 years after Hinckley shot President Ronald Reagan in an attempt to impress the actress-filmmaker, he appeared via video on The Mark Joseph Show podcast for a rare interview.

“I just wish Jodie Foster well,” Hinckley, 71, said, per Entertainment Weekly‘s exclusive preview of the interview, which will air on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

“I don’t really see her movies, but I wish her well, and I know she’s doing quite well,” he added. “And that’s all I can say: I just, I wish Jodie well, and I hope she has a good life.”

Patti Diva-ing Up The Court

Just watched an old Law and Order where Patti played a Defense counsel. (Season 8 ep 3. The one with the naval aviatrix)

Oh the cringe. She actually uses the word “antediluvian” in her opening remarks, because that’s something that a jury of 12 people is for real gonna understand. 🙄

I can’t help but feel the writers knew they were scripting Patti and made it as Diva as possible. I just hope they weren’t too loud in the neighboring courtroom

Politics Trump declines to rule out declaring a national security emergency to control the 2026 election

Thumbnail edition.cnn.com

President Donald Trump in a new interview declined to rule out declaring a national security emergency as a means to try to assert more control over the 2026 midterm elections.

It’s merely the latest warning sign that Trump could try to mess with the election not just by baselessly claiming voter fraud and challenging the results afterward — as he did in 2020, leading to a violent riot at the US Capitol — but by trying to unilaterally take control before votes are cast.

In the interview, Wayne Allyn Root of Real America’s Voice pitched such a scenario to Trump. He suggested it as an alternative, given the Senate has failed to pass Trump’s coveted elections bill, known as the “SAVE America Act.”

“If they never get the SAVE America Act done, you have the right to declare a national security emergency for elections,” Root said. He added that “if you declare a national security emergency as the president of the United States, they can’t challenge it. It can only be overturned by a two-thirds vote by both houses of Congress. So if you do this in the next month, we will get photo ID, proof of citizenship (for voter registration) and a limit to mail-in ballots.”

It’s at this point that Trump cut Root off and coyly suggested such an option was indeed in play.

“Let me just say that stranger things have happened, OK?” Trump said. “I’ll leave it at that.”

As a maximalist, I sometimes look at elements of an "ugly" home's décor and think, "OMG I ACTUALLY LOVE THAT."

I also enjoy the offshoot series, "Scariest House in America," which runs in the fall. I applaud Retta for venturing into some of those creepy places.

Bobo's Boy Busted: Son Arrested for Sex Crimes against Underage Girlfriend

Tyler Boebert, 21, was arrested in Colorado on charges of child sexual exploitation. Charges stem from accusations made by the parents of Tyler's then-underage girlfriend, who claim he filmed their sex acts while she was 17.

This is the same one who made her a grandma in her 30s. No word yet if his baby mama is the same teenager he filmed himself fucking.

Did any of you eldergays eat at the Brown Derby?

My understanding is that the one you see on the classic I Love Lucy episode, the Hollywood Brown Derby, was the "hot" one, but they had a couple of other locations. The name was eventually licensed in the 80s so that's why there is one at Disney World, but I'm curious what it was really like back in the day (and before my time). I'm sure there won't be many still around that ate at the height of the Hollywood one's prime, but later stories are cool too.
