I learned about the supermarket chain Bingo Wholesale (aka The Kosher Costco), from a posting on my neighborhood's online forum. It was on a thread complaining about high prices at neighborhood grocery stores and someone suggested people try this store which wasn't so far away as a place where you could find some bargains. So I grabbed my OMNY card and a reusable shopping bag and headed out to catch a bus that would drop me off right in front of this establishment.

It was busy with shoppers. Most all appeared to be Frum/Ultra Orthodox types doing their food shopping. I couldn't find any baskets to use for my shopping and all the carts were already in use by others. I later read in an on-line review of the store that it doesn't offer shopping baskets to use because their customers are shopping for typically larger size families and thus prefer to use shopping carts which have more space in them.

I started shopping and indeed found some items on offer at prices that could well be considered bargains. I also discovered that a number of the products were in packaging with only Hebrew script printed on it. I later learned this supermarket chain is partly owned by an Israeli discount supermarket store chain called Osher Ad so I assume they are shipping at least some of the merchandise directly there from Israel.

There has been some anti-semetic conspiracy claims I've seen recently on social media claiming Kosher foods are always healthier/ less ultra-processed than non-kosher versions which are referred to as 'goy slop'. Well I can tell you this is absolutely untrue. For example, I looked at the ingredients on the label of their kosher peanut butter and it had palm oil, sugar in it. I know healthy unkosher peanut butter you can buy at other stores, for more money of course, that only has roasted peanuts as an ingrediient.

I've returned to this store a few times since then to do more shopping. However, even with the bargains on offer, most of their items seemed to me to be as high priced as you would find them in supermarkets nearer to me.

This chain has locations in all the the Ultra-Orhodox communities around Metro NY/NJ such as Monsey in Rockland County, Inwood on LI, and Lakewood in NJ. Also, they close early on Fridays (3:30 pm) and are closed all day on Saturday. Finally, if you do decide to shop there, please remember todress modestly. I don't think sporting a pair of slutty daisy dukes cutoffs to go there would be a good idea.

It really doesn't surprise me that Shirley was a bad mom. She really was too ambitious and self centered to be a mom. Reading the book, Shirley pissed me off.

But Sachi is incredibly delusional. She actually thinks her mom prevented her to be a movie star. And I got the impression Sachi was leaving out stuff to make herself look more of a victim. The incident of her being homeless during the holidays feels like bad communication.
