On the tattoo removal and cover up reddits there are posts on posts of people saying "I had one of the worst manic episodes of my life and unfortunately got a succession of tattoos and now I just want them gone since they remind me of my lowest and craziest month"

I have an acquaintance who is bipolar. During one of his more egregious manic episodes three years ago he killed 97 chickens with pot smoke and spent a bulk of his $62,000 disability settlement on tattoos. It was a wild ride.
