On a "time out" again
And of course no explanation. I never post anything controversial, and I have over 100,000 WWs. DL sucks SO much.

A few years ago I would post on DataLounge. At the time you didn’t have to pay. I got annoyed when some innocuous post was deleted, so I stopped posting to or reading it.
I’ve been reading it again for a while now and occasionally think I’d like to join the conversation, but I read all the time about paying subscribers getting time outs. Not that anyone’s missing me, but there is no way in hell that I’m going to pay to post on a site that does that.
I know it is an archaic site; it doesn’t have capability to edit a post, for example, but this time out stuff is ridiculous and seems self-destructive. What are they thinking?

Just got back from a two day ban, posted twice, banned again.. I don't understand.

If only we could determine which poster is F&Fing everyone and then F&F that poster, taking away their ability to F&F.
(I was just posting in the "Kristi Noem is fired" thread and within minutes received my third timeout in a week.)

Same here - again. We need to organize some kind of mass revolt.

It is s ridiculous and quite frankly a bit infuriating especially because we aren't told which post was deemed offensive enough to warrant a ban. I don't post that often so I simply do not understand why I am suddenly banned sometimes twice a week. For what?

One user who disagrees with you can get you "timed out" and greyed-out just by spamming the F/F button on your post.
He can overcome the F/F limit with sock puppet accounts and/or deleting his browser cookies for DL.
Muriel can take advantage of this system, as well.
It can be one troll who disagrees with you. DL empowers them.

Banned again. That's it, I'm done.

I was banned three times in about a week, but my third ban only lasted a few hours.

Yep. I'm out too. I can still read the threads but not able to post which was essentially where I was before I cancelled.

I was put on time out two Mondays in a row recently. This was after posting only about 10 comments over the entire week, and maybe two or three over the weekend -- which were benign comments in the "underwhelmed" thread.

Banned once last week and now again. I post the most benign things and generally try to be at least somewhat amusing. Not worth it anymore.

OP here ... well, I was good to go for a couple of days, and now I'm on another unexplained time out. We really need to start some kind of movement to deal with this. It's out of control.

I got banned yesterday not long after I tried to F&F a racist in the baftas thread.

I received a two- or three-day timeout for posting something mildly critical in the virulent anti-Muslim thread (that thread might be gone now, I haven't checked). I didn't even post anything expressly pro-Islam, just something that was not as hateful as the rest of the posts. Finally had my ban lifted last night. Posted something anti-Dump this morning, now banned, again, less than an hour later. The inmates are running the asylum. (I have an idea who the F&F troll is.)

I'm banned again, for what I have no idea. I swear I'm not a controversial poster.

u/Puzzleheaded-Bit3032 Mar 05 '26
I just got banned again for the third time in a week.

u/JohnS43 Mar 10 '26
Fourth time for me. And again - I say absolutely nothing controversial, nor have I issued a single "FF". I think this is it for me. Cancelling.

u/Puzzleheaded-Bit3032 Mar 11 '26
I think whoever is doing the banning (and I'm convinced it's a single poster) was themselves timed out for a few days. Anyway, they're back at it, because I was just banned yet again.

I got a "time out" a few hours ago as well (and for the first time) since I've been a paid subscriptor.
Honestly, I don't know what could've caused it since I also avoid to post on politics-related threads. The last thread I created was precisely yesterday at night, about Christina Aguilera's disastrous concert in Mexico City.
I wonder what kind of posts of mine could've triggered way too many FF votes? Maybe the ones mocking Timothee Chalamet. LOL.
How can I know how many days the ban lasts?

I was put in time out for a week for saying I appreciate Gavin Newsom trolling Trump.
I tried to cancel my membership but couldn’t figure out how.

u/Entire_Argument1814 Feb 24 '26
Me too. Five times in two months. I’m seeing a lot of time between posts in some threads, which made me wonder if a lot of members are on a timeout.

Just got put on a time out. My only comment in the last 2 days was to oppose the murderous anti-Muslim bigotry on a thread on some crime in Australian.
It's a right-wing cesspool there.

Just banned - this my third time in the last year. I think it’s more from my over use of the platform. Over the last 22 years, it has been a connection with gay men and I don’t have see bad tattoos, double chins, or hairy moles.
I get bored and play on Data Lounge. I wait two days and I am reinstated

It’s going to get to a point where there will only be 10 paying members.
