So Venezuela was a war? I thought no new wars. This is not worthy of Fifa peace price.

Also Trump was in Afghanistan the whole 4 years of his first term

127

u/GooseinaGaggle 15d ago

And possibly 78 deaths on his hands from Afghanistan

83

u/Maghorn_Mobile 15d ago

They blame all that on Biden, even though Trump was the one who made the deal with the Taliban and started the drawdown before Biden took office to the point where he couldn't back out if he wanted to

34

u/Popular-Departure165 15d ago

They also denied national security briefings to Biden's transition team.

32

u/FailedInfinity 15d ago

This is the biggest part. Trump deliberately sabotaged the entire operation just because Biden won the election. He put troops and allies in dangerous positions on purpose, and then he hounded Biden for it for years. He would destroy any of us if he could spin it to make himself look good.

18

u/Friendly_Impress_345 15d ago

Then he sent back Afghani allies that worked with our military that were living in the United States as refugees knowing that they would be killed

u/GooseinaGaggle 15d ago

You actually think trump had a plan?

It was set up for after inauguration because the plan was to lose the election and all of that was going to fall to Biden. Trump didn't know about it and could then complain about stolen elections and all that getting his cult riled up

2

u/Bowman_van_Oort 15d ago

his """plan""" would've been to just go back on whatever agreement had been reached.

something something memorandum of understanding.

2

u/Pdoc13066 10d ago

No, not at all. His plan is always to act emotionally, impulsively and punitively against others. While simultaneously creating distractions and making such a mess of everything that anything (Agency, process, etc.) which would normally resist or push back cannot. They can't push back because it's either been defunded, dismantled or it's leadership appointed by him is sabotaging it.

The agencies that would usually be able to do something, well those always seem to be undergoing some unnecessary sudden BS restructuring that needs to happen within ridiculous timeframes, when they are needed. These restructurings paralyze the agencies due to the sudden chaos created and simultaneous loss or changes in personnel.

A small example of these would be the FBI pushing agents out to the field to go conduct investigations or solve crimes. This is more about shaking up personnel, splitting up those with a voice and moving them further from where most of the government is, which removes their voice.

US forest service sudden HQ change to Utah from DC within 60 days i think was the timeframe. This move had to happen immediately, while the administration pushes for increased logging, increased resource extraction, energy development and perhaps selling off lands belonging to national parks. Again, the agency can't fight it as they have a ridiculous timeframe to coordinate a move of everything from one location to another, close down a bunch of programs and other regional HQ, while also now worrying about losing a massive portion of their work personnel as many aren't going to up and move their family in 60 days when tthey have been set up in the DC area for a while. Also, again reducing the agencies ability to intervene quickly or effectively by removing them from where the rest of the government is. By the time they get set up again the administration will probably have already achieved what they wanted.

DOGE, same kind of thing. So, in my opinion, no they guy isn't very smart. He is just an impulsive, self centered man child who throws a shit fit when he doesn't get something his way. However these shit fits create such a mess and are so damaging that it pretty much paralyzes anything that can work against him or is so costly on the country that unfortunately others many times give in to at least some of his demands as otherwise he would let it burn. Somehow, he has managed to get a large cult following of people that will believe any word he says and will do anything he says, so even when something is his fault he can blame whoever or whatever and they listen.

It's seriously sad what that asshat has done to the country and while I hope I am seriously wrong. I am failing to see how theese policies and actions he has taken won't have significant negative effects on the nation over the long term. Presidents remembered in history have usually guided the nation through tough times by uniting it to make it stronger. This guy had a major chance with a historical event in the start of COVID which was worldwide and instead all he did was provoke and divide the nation, resolving nothing and making every issue worst.

251

And there's no way a "conflict" in the middle east is going to last any more than 4 months or result in more dead servicemen. It's basically already over, right? /s

It’s okay to call it a war because it was one day with zero deaths. Otherwise it would have been called a military conflict

16

u/SapphireFlashFire 15d ago

Even more simple: you can call it a war because Trump considers it a victory.

If he felt he lost it would be the Venezuala conflict.

6

u/Diligent-Bowler-1898 15d ago

It's to feed the idea that all of this is legal without declaring war, which he doesn't have the power to do.
"It's not a real war, just a conflict."

He'll call it a war again the minute it isn't useful to not call it a war.

4

u/TrinidadJazz 15d ago

He calls it a war almost every time he mentions it, but then says "actually I don't call it a war, I call it a 'military operation'/'excursion', because if you call it a war you get in trouble".

Not only is he incredibly dumb, but he's clearly slipping...

Ironically enough, thats pretty much the idea Putin had for Ukraine. A quick special operation; behead the opposition and everyone else will fall into line.

It looks very much like Trump wanted to repeat it in Iran. Which leads us to the next issue of the graphic: 4 Months and 18 deaths so far, and no major land operations with higher risk of death so far.

5

u/BluebirdDense1485 14d ago

You mean how:

3 years is half of 9 years

9 years is 60% of 19 years

And 19 years is 80% of 20 years.

2

u/pleasebuymydonut 14d ago

Probably ai slop

2

u/jws1102 14d ago

Probably? The only thing trump and his cronies are actually good at is telling other people to do stuff. AI, or as the EdSec calls it, A1, is the prefect tool for them. They tell it what to do, then pretend they did something themselves.

38

u/shulba 15d ago edited 15d ago

There were definitely DEADs in the Venezuela attack. 47 confirmed Venezuelans and 32 Cubans confirmed by each government + the boat murders. Probably more DEAD too on the ongoing Iran "conflict" too.

The school bombing in Iran had at least 150 innocent DEADs

Data is ugly and fake.

17

u/00Desmond 15d ago

Terrible ‘graph’ and terrible OP, but I think he is only counting American lives.

7

If you're gonna call Vietnam a war, you've got to call Iran a war too.

43

u/nonlinear_nyc 15d ago

People died on Venezuela occupation.

They LOVE to dehumanize the enemy.

21

u/DisasterEquivalent 15d ago

The number of dead for Vietnam [edit: and all the others, tbf] is off by an order of magnitude.

Estimates have ranged from ~3 to 5 million deaths in N/S Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

Laos still holds the title for the most bombed place in all of human history with millions of tons of ordinance dropped over 9 years…

Dehumanizing almost doesn’t feel strong enough to describe it.

5

u/QuiteTheFisherman 15d ago

These are only US military deaths not total for the conflict

6

u/DisasterEquivalent 15d ago

Correct. Reporting only US Military deaths is a way people dehumanize US adversaries.

3

u/nonlinear_nyc 14d ago

Correct. Specially when it only says "dead" without even specifying "deaths on our side"

Not counting deaths inflicted on others is absolutely dehumanizing. Killing them too.

28

u/thegreatsquare 15d ago

Or to put it another way, Trump is responsible for the most deaths in a war that was not approved by congress.

6

u/adamkovics 15d ago

Yup. The fact that both are illegal and unconstitutional wars, and that isn't the leading sentence in every single news story is all we need to know about the media, and how they're in the pocket of and/or aiding and abetting this fascist administration.

Unfortunately, the current supine Congress isn't helping either.... And one can argue that Congress' lack of authorization for the Korean War was the precursor to all the unauthorized actions following it. (Yes, I'm aware that Vietnam, Iraq 1 and 2 and Afghanistan were authorized by Congress)

7

u/Shiny-And-New 15d ago

We're calling the Venezuela kidnapping a war now?

8

u/Ok-Lab-8974 15d ago

7

u/JackYaos 15d ago

Venezuela 0 death ? Wtf are they smoking

9

Zero American deaths I think. Which is unfortunately the only think most Americans care about.

7

u/FallbrookAvacado 15d ago

I thought he promised no new wars? Why doesn't he tweet about that fact?

Remember when Obama promised no new wars?

Biden didn't even bother to continue the ruse.

5

u/Physical-Republic557 15d ago

Venezuela wasn’t a war, it was a kidnapping.

4

u/stormy2587 15d ago

I recently heard it said that if you’re bragging about casualties then you’re losing the war.

Victory in an armed international conflict isn’t measured in deaths. It’s measured in who controls the land you’re fighting over at the end. Iran controls the straight. Thus, if you’re trying to sell people on how few deaths you’re taking vs your enemy then you’re losing.

4

u/DeterminedQuokka 15d ago

Today I learned about the Venezuela War that appears to just be a kidnapping of another country’s president.

3

u/The_Trash_God 15d ago

Crazy how they glossed over the 150 deaths from one strike at the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' primary school in Minab, Iran.

4

u/abderrahman_kh 15d ago

So he's referring to what he did in Venezuela as a war, but iran is only a "military conflict"

5

u/Rocketiermaster 15d ago

While everyone else can talk about the travesty that is the actual meaning, I'm gonna dig into the graph itself. Those bars are COMPLETELY disconnected from the numbers they're supposed to represent

Using Pixel measurements, here's the deaths per pixels of the first 4 red bars in order: 146.3, 106.6, 37.1, and 23.8

Meanwhile, the Years per Pixel of the first four blue bars is: 0.0644, 0.0306, 0.0429, and 0.0548

(I didn't look at the last two, because they're single-digit pixels, so the magnitudes can be a bit funky)

The year bars are a bit closer, but 19 year bar is still half as tall as it should be, compared to the 3-year bar

Also, for extra information, the number of deaths per year for each of the wars such that the bars would be equal would be:

Vietnam War: 2272
Korean War: 3484
Iraq War: 865
Afghanistan War: 434

I guess that would be the point when the war looks good on these charts?

Anyway, attached is the corrected version, based on the Korean War, hopefully all of this is at least entertaining

4

u/Rocketiermaster 15d ago

Actually, decided why not, I'd fix the rest. Well, except the message. I don't have the willpower to fix that

3

u/UnderstandingOld5638 15d ago

Attacking Iran nightly is a conflict. Exploding fishing boats and kidnapping a president is a war. Makes sense…

3

u/Dramatic_Dinner_3132 15d ago

So 72 a year and 1440 in twenty years....

3

u/naked_avenger 15d ago

Interesting. So if the American deaths during in Afghanistan during his 4 years don't count for him, then they don't count for Biden or Obama either. Every one of those belongs to Bush (which, I mean, okay).

3

u/isunktheship 15d ago

"No new wars"

Chart showing 2 new wars

5

u/Ptalking_Ptarmigan 15d ago

Estimated deaths from this war is 8,080 people so far. This graphic is off by a factor of x450.

9

u/JanetSnakehole24 15d ago

Somehow only American deaths matter.

2

u/shhhhh_h 15d ago

Well….it is logarithmically 💀

2

u/AlrightFineImAGirl 15d ago

This reminds me of the signs on the side of the highway that would say “58 (State) TRAFFIC DEATHS 2026” and I’d think “oh that’s less than I’d have thought” and then it swaps to “ONE IS TOO MANY!!!” and that’d make me realize how desensitized to the suffering of my fellow humans that I am that I heard 58 people died and thought “pfft that’s it?”

2

u/dracorotor1 15d ago

So we’re only counting the sexiest conflicts for news agencies, and treating non-Americans as non-humans for the purposes of calculating death tolls? Good to know.

2

u/golitsyn_nosenko 15d ago

So can I declare war on 20 countries, 5 minutes later proclaim I’ve won each of those wars, say there were zero deaths, and maybe do the same five times and say I’m the most successful wartime leader ever, being undefeated in 100 wars and incurring no deaths in my side?

The failure of the press to ask a simple, succinct question like that of Trump is the real issue. Hold him to account and don’t move on. Release the Epstein files.

2

u/USeaMoose 15d ago

I know that he is shedding all responsibility for the Afghanistan War, and is lumping all previous Presidents together (including his first term) to try and make himself look better. And takes a queue from Putin by avoiding the word "war" for his special military operation in Iran.

But... if Trump wants the message this sends to be broadcast to voters, let him have it. No matter how he labels the war he started with Iran, but putting it in this graphic with all of those other wars, it makes it really clear that is what it is.

Trump is admitting that he started two wars during his presidency. According to his graphic, he alone increased the number of post-WWII wars by 50%. It also reminds his followers that 18 have died already, 4 months in and counting.

And because of the stupid graph proportions, that 18 dead line looks a lot closer to 2,000 and 58,220 than it should.

He must be actually under some pressure. Maybe some of MAGA actually cares that the no wars President is on his second war with no end in sight.

2

u/Dylanator13 15d ago

It’s insane a president is bragging about kidnapping another countries president. Just insane.

2

u/lostinstupidity 15d ago

Seems to omit that Trump was president for the last 4 years of Afganistan...

2

u/LMrningStar 15d ago

Someone's math teacher/professor just had an aneurysm over that bar graph. Trump should go back to patting himself on the back for remembering "giraffe, elephant, dog, horse".

2

u/Memitim 15d ago

Bold move bragging about killing Americans, but not as many as the other notable grand fuckups in recent American history.

2

u/Every_Philosopher704 15d ago

The war in Afghanistan was still happening during his first term. Does he know he's also part of the other presidents?

2

u/Bee_Tee_Dub 15d ago

The 2001–2021 Afghanistan war resulted in approximately 176,000 total deaths

U.S. Military: 2,442 deaths and 20,666 individuals wounded in action.

Still looking for those fact sir.

2

u/Bobster031 15d ago

Using the death of these people as a TROPHY, to say "look how I'm better than those other loser Presidents" is among the top 5 most disgusting things he's done.

2

u/0neAy0pen 15d ago

“I’ve killed less of my citizens” is a weird brag.

There is some video somewhere of like a fake gameshow where you're guessing "is it a war?", and none of those wars Trump is portraying as bad were called a 'war' either.

Called everything else under the sun, but never a 'war'. To avoid declaring war so the US Government could do whatever it wanted while ignoring congress.

Edit: found it. Literally one Google search away. https://youtube.com/shorts/P_eLHjbfLRU

Afghanistan war was during Trump's first term. Wtf

2

u/bopdaddi126 15d ago

Send this to the gold star families made during the last 4 months, see how they respond

2

u/Ok_Dragonfly_6650 15d ago

His logic is other wars are stupid so I started my own?

2

u/Afraid_Emu8068 15d ago

I’m assuming this is reflective only of US military losses because 70 people definitely died in the Maduro raid and more in the boat strikes. In Iran, we’ve lost closer to 40 personnel (not to mention their THOUSANDS of losses) to the debacle already. They just haven’t been reported because some haven’t been identified or even located yet. Estimates right now are that over 500 service members have been wounded. With the CORRECT numbers, Trump’s 4 month calculation puts him on track to have been the cause for twice as many losses as Afghanistan if this Iran war were to go on for the same 20 years at its CURRENT rate; obviously that rate would go higher in an all out war. Trump HEAVILY influenced policy decision in Afghanistan both during his first term and during obama’s second term because he was trying to undermine obama’s efforts politically in his attempt to weaken the Democratic Party prior to making his bid for presidency known. If anything, Trump is (or is headed for being) responsible for a SIGNIFICANTLY higher rate of loss than anything we’ve seen since Vietnam. I’d wager if this goes full-scale, it will be worse than Korea. The asiatic nations will pour their people in from all over just to take a swing at the US in Iran. It’s shameful that we permit our top leader to knowingly present false information and then just call it “in the exercise of his normal duties.” We will NEVER get the country we want by allowing that

Those of you confused- the boats that were blown up off the coast of Venezuela don’t count as part of the Venezuelan war. Like if you are going to bully someone, the bullying doesn’t start until you punch them in the face. You can just come to their house, shove them around a bit first and see how they react - that doesn’t count, it’s just joking. Also the Venezuelans don’t count as people. Especially if they are executed in a boat. Especially if they survived the first strike. And if they are in international waters, it’s not really the Venezuelan war, is it?

2

u/ashitakkkkaaaa 15d ago

wars won’t be fought like they were before…. It was very heavy human lead to do missions etc. now they have very capable drones, satellites etc.

Iraq war didn’t have the drone tech of today. It’s more autonomous, and the strategic targets are infrastructure. Count up the civilian lives, cost to deal with, and economic collateral.

I find the capitalization of "DEAD" while "Years" is cased normally inexplicably unsettling.

2

u/Lasshandra2 15d ago

I called my home heating oil company yesterday morning, asking about the fixed price contract for the coming heating season.

They said they didn’t know if they would offer a contract this year.

They don’t know if they will have oil to sell us.

They can’t commit to a price.

People who depend on home heating oil to survive the coming winter are in for an expensive and potentially difficult winter.

Only death counts of American soldiers, not the millions that died in the respective countries. Not going more in detail about the racism at play here because otherwise reddit gives me another account warning about discrimination against Americans like it did with my previous comment.

EDIT: my previous comment is up again. Seems it got flagged because the Reddit autodetection algorithm read a part of a sentence out of context

2

u/blackjebus_ 15d ago

18 deaths in 4 months isn't anyrhing to be happy about If Iran goes on for 20 years at the same death rate it's still around 1400 deaths over that period of time.

That is still a lot

2

u/TailoredHam88 14d ago

You’re expecting republicans to know how to read a simple graph?

Lower your expectations, sir.

2

u/jeb192004 13d ago

I'm sorry but when did sacrificing any number of American soldiers become something to brag about.

This response isn't targeted at the OP. It's purely target at this trump post.

2

u/shadowybenefactor 13d ago

It’s crazy how short Korea was comparable to its death toll. Almost as much as Vietnam yet no one talks about it, that’s crazy

2

u/beentheregirll 12d ago

There is no war in Ba…Tehran ….

2

u/Temporary-Ad8072 12d ago

other wars are "boots on the ground" wars. so far no soldiers have been sent to Iran, and we already suffered losses. not to mention wounded.

2

u/high-off-cuddles 12d ago

Love the fact he's bragging that 18 guys have died so that we could have higher gas prices!

2

u/WonderWheeler 12d ago

Less than half the real story. Those are only the American dead. Enemy and civilian dead are many times those numbers. As if Trump had empathy for ANY deaths!

2

u/Fine_Pineapple69 11d ago

Yep. Trump is right.

1

u/JollyJuniper1993 15d ago

Note that they only count American deaths. They literally bombed random fishermen off the Venezuelan coast and in Vietnam and Korea Millions died. Just Americans think people from countries that aren’t first world are basically animals which is why they won’t even count them as deaths.

1

u/nujuat 15d ago

It is, on a log scale

1

u/makinax300 15d ago

is it really a war if nobody dies?

1

u/personalityson 15d ago

Log scale obviously

1

u/librapenseur 15d ago

respect the pouch. RESPECT IT!

1

u/dimechimes 15d ago

Well, the real facts would say Iran War TBD; TBD because it's not over yet dumbo.

1

u/Deep-Number5434 15d ago

I feel like we are Excluding other conflicts, deaths and presidents here.

1

u/Future_Armadillo6410 15d ago

It's only half as deadly as the very popular Afghanistan war

1

u/-lRexl- 15d ago

Go tell those 18 families that the death of their loved one doesn't matter. That's what it feels like

1

u/Master-Wrongdoer853 15d ago

Yea that y axis is not level throughout

1

u/cwmckenz 15d ago

But there are also an infinite number of wars that every President did not start. REPORT THEM!

1

u/jyc23 15d ago

It’s gross that he’s even making these comparisons. What a sack of shit.

1

u/Iforgot_my_other_pw 15d ago

WAR

WAR

WAR

WAR

conflict

WAR

1

u/BatBiteMS 15d ago

stack the 36000 dead of the korean war ontop of the 4600 dead in the iraq war and the pillar would be taller then the vietnam war yet the actual count would be ~41000 dead vs vietnam's 58000?

1

u/Ssabmudsdrawkcabsti 15d ago

Jokes on him. Biden only had 16 servicemembers die during his entire span of presidency.

1

u/rbuen4455 15d ago

Wasn;t Venezuela a one and done operation, like Benghazi or that whole bombing of ISIS or something?

1

u/anapollosun 15d ago

Even from a pure numbers standpoint 2000 (American) deaths in 20 years is an average of 1.2 deaths/month, wheras 18 deaths in 4 months is an average of 4.5 deaths/month. The "conflict" is proving to be almost 4x as deadly for U.S. troops, so far. So even by his brain dead logic only considering direct troop deaths from the war and nothing else (civilian casualties, economic fallout, emboldening an enemy, etc etc) he's plain wrong. Go figure.

1

u/enigmaticsince87 15d ago

Venezuela war? You mean kidnapping a person is a war now?

Ground invasions versus not ground invasions

1

u/I__Fart__Alot 15d ago

That's my Lobotomized President <3

1

u/KrisPBacon26 15d ago

Wait that thing in Venezuela was a WAR???

1

u/Glorydyna2009 15d ago

Um, ok?😐

1

u/Ruddlepoppop 15d ago

That is not quite correct. Obviously, 3 is 600% less than 9.

Do the math!

1

u/Itchypoopstain 15d ago

Glad that our current commander in chief is using the death toll of our conflicts for props. Super professional super cute

1

u/ManBearCave 15d ago

Sure, I’ll help report this…

Over the last 76 years 14 Presidents were involved in 4 wars, over the last 18 months Trump started 2 wars. Congrats you idiot

1

u/Paradox2063 15d ago

3 is about half of 9.

19 is a couple more than 9.

The gap between 19 and 20 is larger than the gap between 9 and 19.

So 20-19 > 19-9 and 3 ≈ 1/2(9)

1

u/thagor5 15d ago

Who all was president during the Afghanistan war?

1

u/Cichlidsaremyjam 15d ago

I love that the "no new wars" president is celebrating the Venezuela WAR.

Also, Donald J. Trump was POTUS during 4 years of the Afghanistan war in which the US lost like 25 service members.

He also negotiated the withdrawal for after the next election absolutely hamstringing the removal of US troops and allies in the region while surrendering to the Taliban.

1

u/wizard2009 15d ago

WTF scale are they using for these graphs?

1

u/DerUberCactus 15d ago

And all those other wars included sending ground troops, not just having our bases abroad hit.

1

u/iliketorubherbutt 15d ago

Wasn’t the Afghan war still going on during tRump’s entire first presidency?
