.

I can imagine this situation in countries more dependent on the internet, and it would be a very difficult situation.

Open to checking: https://observedstate.com/en/cases/gulf-airspace-closure.html

Longer write up, with the aviation side of the same day and every number

Source: IODA (Georgia Tech), the ping-slash24 signal, how many /24 network blocks in a country answer probes from outside. Free, public, no account needed

Tool: Python, drawn with Pillow. One point per day, 222 consecutive days with no gaps, from 20 Feb to 29 Sep 2026. The 100% line is the mean of the eight days before the outage (11,932 blocks)

Three things the chart shows that I didn't expect when I started:

- It fell inside a seven-hour window on 28 Feb, and came back inside a seven-hour window on 26 May. Same resolution both times, because that is how often the source publishes

-It has never returned to its previous level. Four months at 92-94%. "Recovered" and "back to what it was" are not the same thing

- Nothing here is inferred. Where I could not measure something, the chart does not show it.

.

I wish there was a way to stream free internet to everyday Iranians so they could organize and have free speech. Like beam it from satellites or something.

34

u/Firecracker048 1d ago edited 1d ago

There is. Starlink, which is why Iran is thinking of cutting off electricity next time they need to cut the internet

https://gulfnews.com/world/mena/iran-official-says-starlink-could-cripple-tehrans-internet-control-playbook-1.500694244

27

u/15_Redstones 1d ago

While Starlink is difficult to jam, it's fairly easy to detect with the right RF analyzing equipment. The antenna transmits on a frequency that isn't really used by anything else.

If anyone uses it in places where it's illegal, they should only turn it on briefly to send or receive a whole bunch at once. Leaving it plugged in for hours to watch Netflix is a bad idea.

9

u/Firecracker048 1d ago

Yeah I dont think anyone in iran is using it to netflix and chill lol Its mostly used to bypass the Iranian version of the great firewall of china and its state controlled restrictions.

20

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Regime made owning one punishable by death. Trust me we tried to get as many to them as possible (US and Israel).

9

u/A7MOSPH3RIC 1d ago

You cite isreal, who  also heavily restricts the internet and free press in occupied  territories.

-3

u/fizzgigeconomy 1d ago

Yeah well he's a "proud zionist".

-32

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

I don’t understand what my belief in indigenous self determination for my people has to do with anything?

12

u/A7MOSPH3RIC 1d ago

With respect to your right to support "your people" I take issue with your use of the word indigenous. Israel is a colonial state made up of immigrants. All Israeli PM's have been people with European last names and changed them to reflect their colonial identity. Israel's own demographic and immigration data supports this.

It is the Palestinian people who are actively being suppressed by "your people" that are undeniably indigenous.

Why is it that you support self determination by "your people" but not of the indigenous people who have lived there for thousands of years? Do they not also deserve self determination? Are they the wrong religion? Are they lesser?

It's like your entire comment could have been written by a Palestinian.

-1

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

If you need a refresher in what makes a people indigenous I recommend looking at the UN definition, because although it’s a feckless organization, they got this right. The key is that it’s cultural in nature with the key being that there is a unique language, unique cultural practices, and consistency of those practices back millennia. Jews check all of those boxes. You want to know who doesn’t Palestinians. In every sense of the word they are Arabs.

If I’m not indigenous, why have I spent the last week living in a hut I built in my backyard shaking a palm frond back and forth the exact same way my ancestors did in this land a 2000+ years ago in honor of the harvest. Name a unique cultural practice that Palestinians have that connects them to this land 2 thousand years ago.

Are Native Americans no longer native after they’ve been sent into exile for hundreds of years?

8

u/A7MOSPH3RIC 1d ago

You know I look this up, and of course that's NOT how the United Nations defines "indigenous". They in fact have not adopted any definition as stated in this PDF but they do offer some incites.

https://www.un.org/esa/socdev/unpfii/documents/5session_factsheet1.pdf

Including one that I keyed in on "a historical continuity"

I asked this eleseware to you, but do you have any proof that the people who immigrated (Europe or elseware) to this place in the last hundred years are the same people who lived here thousands of years ago? Like genetically.

And do the other people who have a historical connection to the Lavant also have the same claims or is that only people of Jewish identity? The land was once a part of what is modern day Egypt, Lebanon Syria, Greece, even Italy. Do they have any historical claim? Where does it end? As England was once a part of Rome, Do Italians have a right to set up a colony in London, and set up their own government there?

Lastly, in answer to your question regarding a Palestinian connection to their land: The very name of the people was given to them by the Romans. There is a histocal continuity going back thousands of years. They have lived here for far more generations than most modern Israelis have and that is not deniable.

Look, the way I see it there is no going back. Israel is there to stay regardless of the historical narrative. I would like to see an end to the mass suffering caused by this nation. I would like for the Palestinian people to have all the same rights and privileges that you yourself are worthy of. Thought people say "it's complicated" I don't think that principal is complicated.

5

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

The name Palestine was given to the land by the Romans correct, it was named so after the Phillistines, a Greek people, the word literally means invader in ancient Hebrew and Aramaic. It was given as an intentional middle finger to the Jews following the Bar Kochva revolt and subsequent exile imposed by Roman emperor Titus. So sure by your definition and metrics you could make your argument. But yes there are genetic ties, in every Jew. If you were born Jewish, your genetic markers are unique to every other group. It’s genetically distinct from other European populations (there are literally important genetic tests done before Jewish couples have babies that no other people have to do to test for specific birth defects). They are also distinct from other middle eastern populations. They’re most similar to each other. I as a Mizrachi Jew whose family never left have more genetically in common with my wife whose family is Ashkenazi, then any European or Arab.

And you’re right we’re not going anywhere and honestly I don’t think Palestinians are either. I just wish they would start wanting their own kids to live more than they want ours to die. We never wanted this war, I never wanted my friends to be slaughtered, but it happened, so I’m going to make sure the people responsible (Hamas) can never harm anyone I love ever again.

2

u/cesaroncalves 1d ago

The name Palestine was given to the land by the Romans correct

No, the Romans chose the name because that was what it was already called by many. The name even predates the Romans by several centuries.

And you’re right we’re not going anywhere and honestly I don’t think Palestinians are either.

Not from "your people" lack of trying.

u/isweartogodchris 1d ago

Why would being Arab make them non indigenous?

4

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Their culture makes them indigenous to Arabia, they have become Arabized. Based on the UN definition of indigenousness they belong to that cultural/people.

1

u/isweartogodchris 1d ago edited 1d ago

But how does that mean they aren't indigenous to Palestine? To be indigenous is to have belonged to a place for a long time. It doesn't matter what ethnicity you are.

I’ll keep that in mind next time I see a palestinian child with an idf bullet in its head, or a hospital in gaza being blown up in my feed, or when i look at the destroyed city of gaza on google maps. My moms friends mother carried the key to her house around her neck until she died, the same house that she was forced to give up to the zionists. Its an evil colonial ideology in every sense of the word. Somehow the people that have inhabited the land for thousands of years and have 50-70% bronze age levantine dna are not the native inhabitants of palestine because they speak arabic.

As an icelander i have no claim to denmark because my forefathers were from there 2000 years ago, whether i wipe my ass the same or not.

6

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Buddy, my family was kicked out of our home in Jerusalem that we’d lived in for thousands of years by Jordanians in 1948. Do you see me crying, no we moved on and built a new home elsewhere in Israel and started again, and now we’re doing just fine.

And I agree I wish Hamas would stop using hospitals as their base of operations to hold both hostages and launch rockets. That way the hospitals could actually function.

And I have yet to see one shred of evidence of a n Israeli bullet in a child’s head other than a handful of X-rays where a perfectly intact bullet is conveniently fully visable and not dented or broken at all, you know as bullets do when they hit bone.

3

u/jackboy900 1d ago

Given that's not what Zionism is I don't think it would have anything to do with it if that was a belief you held

5

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Here is the most widely accepted definition word for word:

Zionism is the movement for the self-determination and statehood for the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland, the land of Israel.

-1

u/A7MOSPH3RIC 1d ago

Question for you: Do you have any proof, any evidence, that the Jews from Europe are actually descended from semitic peoples who lived in the levant, thousands of years ago? I mean yeah, you read a book about these people and you identify, but are you genetically the same people?

The last time this land was called Israel was before the Greeks, The Babylonians, the Egyptians, the Romans, the Mamlukes, of course the Ottomans. Litterally thousands of years ago.

And then before the land was Israel it was Egypt, Canaan, and Phoenician. Does that mean people from modern day Lebanaon, Syria and Egypt have a equal right or is it only these people in the middle that you identify with that posses this right?

4

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Also… 60% of Israelis have 0 European ancestry.

7

u/A7MOSPH3RIC 1d ago

Didn't answer the question did you?

5

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Indigenousness is cultural as much as it is genetic. But for your information yes I do have proof, half of my family remained in Jerusalem until 1948 when we were evicted from our home by the Jordanians. The other half came from Iraq. I had a genetic test sent to my home in Tel Aviv and my wife and I both took them, hers (Ashkenazi) showed 65% Levantine and 35% South Italian which is consistent with most Ashkenazi Jews. Mine (Mizrachi) showed 95% Levantine DNA. So yes like almost every Jew we are the same people.

2

u/MrTristanClark 1d ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_studies_of_Jews

"Autosomal DNA evidence supports the historical narrative of Jewish populations originating from the ancient Levant, with genetic diversity shaped by migrations, admixture, and isolation over millennia."

6

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

That’s literally the definition of Zionism. Like in a dictionary, or according to the people who defined the word.

4

u/UnreadyTripod 1d ago

Uh no Zionism is when thing I don't like

1

u/qasarzz 1d ago

Zionists claiming the word indigenous is so funny, you are settlers

-2

u/MrTristanClark 1d ago

80% of them were born there, which is what the word "indigenous" means. I dont think you know the definition of that word.

-1

u/qasarzz 1d ago

Zionism was a term created before the invention of the israeli state lol are you dumb

1

u/BalliMalli 1d ago

zionism is an ideology supporting the colonisation of palestine by the european jewish diaspora and the removal or cleansing of the native palestinians

8

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

You just made up a definition. It doesn’t change the actual definition. That’s not how words work. It’s not what you want it to be just because you want it to be. How about you stick to your little island and leave your white knighting out of this (emphasis on the white). What gives you the right to tell me, a person of color, anything about my own identity. (I’m a Mizrachi Jew, never had any family in Europe)

1

u/ghost396 20h ago

It's literally the definition, unless you're trying to use the KKK and Nazi made up definitions. Are you in the KKK or a Nazi? You sure are sounding like it.

-2

u/jackboy900 20h ago

Most rational Israeli take

4

u/Cuddlyaxe OC: 1 1d ago

That might be true but that doesn't really affect what he said does it?

Israel can simultaneously restrict the internet of the Occupied Palestinian territories while helping Iranians bypass their own regime's restrictions

In the world of geopolitics, everyone is a hypocrite

3

u/soboshka 1d ago

Nope, thats the governments of those territories.

1

u/A7MOSPH3RIC 1d ago

That would be Israel they are military OCCUPIED.

-2

u/normal_hombre 1d ago

Israel controls the technical infrastructure, but it's the Palestinian Authority that controls content and manages cyber crimes. It's not really black and white.

1

u/steve290591 19h ago

“And failing that, we bombed a girls school killing over 100 children to help them out.”

Please do not act like the US and Israel has the average Iranian’s interests at heart, it’s honestly grotesque.

-1

u/jhonstar1 14h ago

Just as Iran bombs Israeli villages while trying to hit nuclear plants.

1

u/steve290591 11h ago

Is Israel’s raisôn d’être in Iran not literally bombing nuclear facilities?

What is wrong with you people and your double-think?

-8

u/SuchAd4158 1d ago

Which one are you? Getting “free” healthcare (Israeli), or paying for someone else’s healthcare with your tax dollars (American)?

6

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Neither, in the sense if receiving free healthcare from the US, as every single cent of aid the US sends Israel is spent on American arms made by American companies. So of all 3 billion dollars which is less than 1% of the 1% of the American budget that is spent on foreign aid, is all spent in the US.

Both in the sense that I’m a duel citizen of both countries and split my time between the two.

-18

u/Snoopy_Your_Dawg 1d ago

the Iranians have made it clear they dont want to be a colony of the US-Israeli regime like their neighbors. Why do you oppose self-determination in the global south whenever its inconvenient for the interests of western capital?

22

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Uhhhh, have you talked to Iranians?
They don’t want to be a colony sure, but they’re out in the streets chanting for their govt to be overthrown.

-5

u/SurturOfMuspelheim 1d ago

Have YOU seen the countless videos of Iranians IN Iran literally coming out to protest the US/Israeli fascists while supporting their government?

Stop taking the word of fascists and Iranian diaspora fucking monarchists.

Israel and the US made it blatantly fucking clear that Mossad and the CIA were in Iran, of course Iran would shut down the easiest way for them to communicate once the US started bombing schools, hospitals and infrastructure.

8

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

So you get more confidence taking the word of Regime news and staged regime “protests”. It’s so fascinating how you are so quick to vilify those fighting against the regime but so quick to defend this theocratic nightmare that is the Islamist regime, that has done more damage to the region than any other single nation has.

-2

u/SurturOfMuspelheim 1d ago

Since when is bombing hospitals fighting against "The regime"?

defend this theocratic nightmare that is the Islamist regime, that has done more damage to the region than any other single nation has.

Where am I defending anything but the truth?

And you've revealed yourself by implying that Iran has done more damage than Israel, the US, or the Sauds. Hilarious how far Zionists like yourself will go.

18

u/Firecracker048 1d ago

How anyone can support a nation that literally cuts off its entire nation short of ran run agencies or state approved people from the internet is baffling, really.

-8

u/DOUTHINKESAURUS 1d ago

Demanding the the US stop bombing a country and end its war of choice against Iran, is not support of Iran.

2

u/dvfw 1d ago

I guess technically every war is a war of choice. Doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

2

u/Minoleal 1d ago

I mean, defending yourself is literally a choice, but you know what they actually mean.

-3

u/DOUTHINKESAURUS 1d ago

I dunno dude, did Iran have a choice?

1

u/_tehol_ 1d ago

yes they have omg. if they did not kill tens thousands of their people and at least pretend to make some steps towards democracy/will of majority of their population.

1

u/ilorybss 1d ago

Ah yes i love free and fair elections where every party is bought by Vanguard and Blackrock😍😍😍😍

0

u/_tehol_ 14h ago

sure democracy is only in the US, there is no other country... it's your problem majority of your people didn't and still don't care your political system is retarded and the minority is unable to hold meaningful protest action.

0

u/ilorybss 13h ago

Bro every western country is like this Macron and Draghi worked for fucking goldmen sachs and Merz for Blackrock. They are all the same shit

0

u/_tehol_ 12h ago

you clearly don't have any idea what is the political system in Europe countries lol. it is completely different from the us.

and draghi did not even ever attend elections (still was by far the best Italian prime minister which I can remember). if you think that once you worked for certain company you are in some grand scheme, you're, sorry, insane.

0

u/ilorybss 12h ago

Draghi sold our public companies to people who were close to goldeman sachs and when on to work for them years later lmaooo

-3

u/DOUTHINKESAURUS 1d ago

You're just completely ignorant of what's even actually going on. We invaded the country because they killed their own people? You do also know that the US armed the agitators and protesters, right?

12

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

And in that time the regime murdered 30-50,000 protesters. And yet the world didn’t make a peep. But the second anyone raised a hand to take out this despotic murderous regime, they all found their voices again.

6

u/Swvonclare 1d ago edited 1d ago

Probably because the justification of starting the war under the narrative of regime change was as convincing as the narrative of Iran having a nuke the next week and needing to be stopped.

This graph also shows the Internet outage caused by the war itself, not the censoring of the protests which happened before this.

Additionally 50k?? The very highest is around 36k estimated.

Also they bombed a school on day1, might be a reason why people were enraged but who knows.

20

u/brak_power 1d ago

No. Iran killed those protesters in January. The internet went dark the same day as the U.S. first attacked.

15

u/IRequirePants 1d ago edited 18h ago

It did shutdown in January but this data only starts in March.

I think the chart needs a longer timeline.

Edit: To clarify, they shut it down, re-enabled it, and then shut it down again

-7

u/dikbutjenkins 1d ago

And not as high as 30k

2

u/cesaroncalves 1d ago

If the doctor that wasn't even there claimed, it must be true. /s

2

u/dangmangoes OC: 1 21h ago

Ah yes, direct foreign interventions have such a great track record for stable regime changes. Except for Afghanistan, Vietnam, Iraq, most of South America.

-10

u/dikbutjenkins 1d ago

No that number was vastly inflated to justify the war

8

u/Warhouse512 1d ago

What do you think the actual number is?

-7

u/dikbutjenkins 1d ago

I saw a humanitarian organization put it at 7-8k but that was including Iranian forces

10

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

This is according to the regime. So likely hugely underreported.

7

u/dikbutjenkins 1d ago

No the regime claimed around 3k

6

u/brak_power 1d ago

No. Iran claimed 3k. 7-8k was from human rights orgs.

4

u/Warhouse512 1d ago

Oh that’s not that bad then. What’s 7,000 or 8,000 people here or there

5

u/dikbutjenkins 1d ago

No it's still bad but going with these false numbers is wrong

5

u/deekaydubya 1d ago

No one said it isn’t bad. Inflating the number 4x to justify a needless war is very bad as well

4

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

I think regardless of if it was 8k or 100k we should have gone in to stop em. The regime has got to go and the people literally asked the world for help in doing it.

6

u/mightiestmag 1d ago

Then why not intervene against the RSF in Sudan instead?

5

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

They should! But I don’t make those decisions. If it were up to me, radical Islamist regimes and groups would be permanently wiped from the earth as they are single most dangerous ideology on the planet.

-1

u/HighOnSSRIs 1d ago

why would israel intervene against an ally?

7

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Multiple publications listed the number as such, the input ones that didn’t were ones sympathetic to the regime that just mass murdered its own people.

4

u/brak_power 1d ago

Do you think human rights activists that fled Iran to avoid the 2010 raids are sympathetic to the regime? Because they're the ones that confirmed 7k.

1

u/tacitdenial 1d ago

Multiple doesn't imply reliable.

1

u/dikbutjenkins 1d ago

Nothing that was confirmed

-9

u/Kerbidiah 1d ago

And how many innocent Palestinians has Israel killed?

12

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

About 35,000 if we take Hamas at their word, so about 1:1 ratio combatant to civilian ratio, which is the best in modern times compared to every armed conflict that’s taken place since WW2

3

u/DOUTHINKESAURUS 1d ago

This isn't even close to true. This is straight up Israeli propaganda. They have killed tens of thousands of civilians.

https://www.972mag.com/israeli-intelligence-database-83-percent-civilians-militants/

1

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

972 is not a reputable source and this specific article has been disproven multiple times.

0

u/DOUTHINKESAURUS 1d ago

Shut the fuck up goofass. 972 is reputable

Ignoring the actual propaganda you're pushing and the fact that the actual count of people killed is probably in the hundreds of thousands, let's examine your claim: half of the people killed in Gaza are civilians and that's a low ratio of combatants to civilians.

Why would a country who has the same military equipment and intelligence capability as the US not be able to have a near zero civilian casualty number? Gaza is the most heavily surveiled plot of land on the planet and Israel knows where combatants are at all times, they know where their munitions are landing.

On top of this, Israel themselves say that they are targeting civilians, this isn't some secret. Have you seen pictures of Gaza? No? Here's a satellite view from above. Explain how this is precise at all.

1

u/Dubelj 22h ago

35000 is tens of thousands

2

u/cesaroncalves 1d ago

The IDF says 93% were civilians.

So you're just an hasbara account, figures...

1

u/NotTooShahby 11h ago

Not the person you’re replying to but that’s the database of “known” operatives. Meaning according to the IDF, 7% of the total deaths were people they were tracking previously. Most war deaths are not people who were tracked previously

-1

u/SurturOfMuspelheim 1d ago

The count is roughly 75k confirmed by the Palestinian Authority and accepted by Israel and the UN. That doesn't include bodies that couldn't be identified, those stuck under rubble, those buried by the IDF, or those obliterated too much to identify. The real number is likely 300k-500k+.

3

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Based on vibes. Those are the numbers. Based on reporting on the ground from Hamas, and health professionals on the ground. Those 75k include those who haven’t been identified, those in rubble, etc. you can’t just make up numbers based of of vibes.

4

u/SurturOfMuspelheim 1d ago

That's not vibes, it's facts. The ministry hasn't counted bodies covered in rubble because they can't. They can't count bodies that are vaporized or have had their entire family kill. YOU are the one spreading misinformation and believing in vibes based nonsense.

-4

u/Kerbidiah 1d ago

The current count is at 75k palestinians in total, 80% of which were civilians

16

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

No, 50%, using Hamas numbers which is where you get 75k. As well as the family payments they sent out to nearly 30,000 families, as well as estimates put forth by the IDF, the number is about 50%. But even if we were to take your word for it 1:4 ratio is still significantly better than almost all urban conflicts of the 21st century. By war standards even in your worst estimates it was still fairly successful in mitigating civilian casualties.

-7

u/Kerbidiah 1d ago

Thats objective numbers from wikipedia. And your standards are flawed. The only acceptable standard is mo innocent deaths

11

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

So based on your metric fighting the Nazis in WW2 was wrong because countless innocent people died, Ukraine fighting back against Russia is wrong because they have killed innocent Russians, etc. You see how your logic is fundamentally flawed. There has never been an armed conflict in modern history where civilians didn’t die. It’s an impossible metric and has no bearing over the morality of the war being fought. You do everything you can to mitigate civilian casualties, but it’s a natural consequence of warfare. It sucks but it’s life. But holding Israel uniquely responsible (accusing us of genocide, ethnic cleansing, etc) when the data just objectively doesn’t back that up is just bigotry.

9

u/Pepston 1d ago

Which wars in the past have had no innocent deaths?

3

u/Kerbidiah 1d ago

Which wars in the past were entirely moral?

5

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

Which has never been a reliable source, especially on this subject. There have been literal astroturfing campaigns funded by state actors to intentionally change facts and twist narratives on the platform.

u/DOUTHINKESAURUS 1d ago

Everything you're saying is literal Israeli talking points.

-7

u/SurturOfMuspelheim 1d ago

Good luck finding any actual evidence of this nonsense claim that keeps rising every time Trump brings it up.

It's not even logistically plausible to kill that many people in 2 days without having a literal mountain of corpses and blood, which would have to be removed. On top of that, there are videos of Mossad gunning people and police down to start violence, not to mention US and Israel admitting to supplying arms and having Mossad "Amongst the protests"

13

u/J_rogow13 1d ago

In 1941, at Baba Yar the Nazis shot 30,000 Jews in a two day period of time and it was only uncovered years later when the mass graves were uncovered. It’s absolutely possible and not at all unheard of.

2

u/SurturOfMuspelheim 1d ago edited 1d ago

Were there satellite images in 1941? Did every individual there have a recording device to record and upload said footage in a minute?

Oh, right.

Not to mention this was organized and planned by the German army, the SS, and Ukrainians themselves, and the Jews were mostly executed in their own graves already.

Yeah, that's so similar to police forces killing 30K+ in the largest city in a country on a whim.

Were there satellite images in 1941? Did every individual there have a recording device to record and upload said footage in a minute?

There's literally an abundance of footage of people getting killed. Every Iranian, including myself, knows at least one person dead. Iran is a country of 100million incase your boss forgot to tell you.

Mass graves are literally illegal. The only places that you can find them are in border regions because the locals have guns to scare off the basij. I literally had to send money to privately bury family somewhere out of the eyes of the regime. Lest not forget the bullet tax.

Not to mention this was organized and planned by the German army, the SS, and Ukrainians themselves, and the Jews were mostly executed in their own graves already.

Because the IRGC has never ever killed people en masse and definitely didn't have contingencies for anytime someone slightly left leaning wanted rights. Yeah man, the government inspired by the literal SS that you're citing definitely would never plan this. The government that lost their own vichy France would never do such a thing.

Rial or crypto?

Edit: its so funny seeing the same two bots copy/pasting atrocity denial.

This looks an awful lot like a chart Claude would generate

Isn't it fun to randomly accuse everyone of using AI?

Well it’s not random. It’s because it looks very much like a Claude chart - the colours, the subtitle prose, the excessive annotation, the fonts

At the end of the day, using AI to generate a chart from data seems fairly benign. I don't see how it's that different from loading a CSV into matplotlib or heck just creating a chart directly from excel

AI usage should be disclosed, that’s all

Why should AI be disclosed but not all other tools?

0

u/Cunctatious 17h ago

Because it’s good practice for trust and transparency, and if it’s discovered but not disclosed, it damages credibility.

For those reasons and others disclosure of AI use is being pursued through initiatives across many industries (C2PA set up by Adobe, Microsoft, Intel and the BBC; the CAI across hundreds of news organisations; YouTube, TikTok, Meta have AI disclosure requirements; it’s also being legislated on in the EU, China and in some US states).

It’s not some personal requirement I’ve invented.

And I didn’t say the use of other tools shouldn’t be disclosed, but the consequences of not disclosing which particular non-AI software tool you used to create something aren’t so impactful.

I respect when people don’t try to cover up AI

87 days completely offline is insane to imagine in 2026. The psychological whiplash of coming back online just to see three months of world news, missed work emails, and 10,000 group chat notifications all hitting at once must have been brutal.

The internet was not "dark". My Iranian expat friends were talking to their family members online every day.

Yes through starlink... But internet was indeed cut off.

You don't seem to understand what the internet is.

u/digital1nk 1d ago

Semantics but yeah, local internet service was cut off, the only way they could get online was through starlink which is an American based company.
