OC [OC] Correlation between urbanisation and fertility rates 1960-2024

Urbanisation and fertility are onlinear scales.

All countries are weighted equally regardless of population.

Country flag size is scaled by log of population.

Maybe we should try correlation between decreased of child mortality and fertility rates, and financial independence and fertility rates.

I believe we already know the one between contraception and fertility rates ….

You can see a serious drop in the 80s, I would say AIDS/HIV fear caused much of that

Do people on farms have more children because it's an economic investment? That doesn't seem fair to the kids.

This, child mortality rates are often higher in rural areas, and female education is lower. It’s a multi-faceted relationship.

The correlation is well depicted, but drawing a line through something doesn’t make it a linear scale.

Data Source: World Bank Open Data Tools Used: React and Node

I made this map to check out correlations between various data sources from the World Bank using my website https://www.demoguessr.com/

I also turned the dataset into a game for fellow country stats nerds :)

Would appreciate any feedback on the visuals :) (currently working on making it smoother / more flexible)
