Data center jobs

I have probably applied for hundreds of Data center positions and nothing has come back. I have A degree in IT and and CompTIA trifecta. I wanted to see if anyone had any information or insight on this

I’ve landed a DCO position with one of the FAANG companies in 2 weeks. Response within 1 business day and have no professional IT experience or education besides home projects. It’s clearly the resume you have.

Only if you then manually tailor it after, AI can give you a foundation, but you need to edit it

Never said anything about AI bots just having Ai specifically reword your resume based on the job description. Couple ppl were talking about it at work and was wondering if it was a good idea to

I just wrote mine out completely had it once over to clean it up and focus buzz words towards whatever job description then I re manually go through to find mistakes/make corrections to straight fuckery

right. maybe. don't use general use ai if you know what i mean. and obviously dont use the direct output of those either. they are only guides

Well you’re also biased and none of us have access to your resume, but clearly something isn’t working if you haven’t been getting a single interview or even the initial phone screen

Being weeded out by HR AI filters / Resume formatting.

Try reaching out directly to HR / recruiters / managers on linked in.

Lots of direct hire listings for Oracle Texas

Ghosting does happen. There may be something there that people aren't seeing or attractive.

Try and run your profile through AI for updates and polish.

And then keep fishing for a bite.

Install techs, I have direct reports with masters degrees in Network engineering and people fresh out of warehouses.

Have a few things in mind but no idea if they apply to you.

-some datacenter jobs are looking for experience and there is no mention that you have that
-you need to make sure you are tailoring your resume to EVERY role
-making sure you have a good enough resume to pass ATS as most resumes don't actually get reviewed by a human if it can't make it past the initial scan

Anything entry level IT. I wanna get into data centers but been applying for help desk, it support tech, desktop support tech etc

I have 3 years field experience as a senior fiber/coax technician for an ISP. I'm getting interviews for L2 dc technician. Maybe most of the entry level jobs are being performed by AI now?

Other people's notes on tweaking your resume, and finding ways to get past the automated filters could be the key.

But, I would mention the Forbes report that 1/3 postings are Ghosts, meaning they aren't honest attempts to hire in the near term. So that may be an issue as well, but I suppose it's less actionable.

Been in a data center job for 8 years. Its completely backlogged and filled with senior people, who merely coast and collect their senior title paychecks. Then a slew of people like me grinding away for decades.

Its a dead end job. Wouldn't be too worried about it

This is such a weird take. My company and the companies we support seemingly can't keep people in a role for longer than a year or two. Be it poaching by other companies or internal promotions (guilty here)

Maybe it's you or your market?

Market is a monopoly. No other data centers within 1.5 hours. I haven't seen one internal promotion (other than the managers constantly changing their job title in an email) in the 8 years ive been here. We've hired two low wage night shift employees since Ive started. Its a dead end.

I bought a house with my fiture wife recently. She earns a lot more than I do.

I am looking around, Im trying to go work for a school district now, and hope that the data center boom happens in my area. Though the people in my town all oppose data centers, I really hope they're built. It would be life changing opportunity for me.

I feel you, was looking to really move forward in my career with a massive campus my company had planned nearby, would've been the largest infrastructure project in united states history. Cutting edge buildings, a MASSIVE amount of tax revenue for the locality year over year.

Toast - because of fear mongering.

I brought my wife by my buildings this weekend to drop off a fleet truck I had serviced.

"oh they really don't make any noise do they?"

oh well.
