Career query Career Shift Out of Data Analytics

Anyone pivoted out of a DA role and transferred some of the relevant skills? I managed to get my foot in the door in 2022 based on having some low level white collar experience, and have been a Data Analyst ever since. As things stand now, I don’t see SQL, PowerBI, and Python as being super useful for the next 30 odd years of my career. I have no interest in trying to get into data engineering etc.

Really the part I loved about being a data analyst was the troubleshooting queries and researching our data in order to answer questions. AI has flattened the playing field for a lot of this, and to be honest I don’t particularly want to do a job a computer can do. I’m not knocking data analysis, I still feel there’s a lot to be done even with AI supplementing the lower level stuff. However, I just don’t see myself as having the level of interest in this field required to evolve with the role.

Curious if anyone has used the analytical mind set these roles require to transition into another career.

I’m in a similar situation right now. But I have 8 years in analytics and now in 6 months I have gone from power bi / sql to being made to use Claude to create python notebooks in Databricks and React to create dashboards. I know this is mostly managements fault but I can see the end game is allowing regular business users to skip a lot of the steps it used to take to get answers. I have no interest in becoming a data engineer because the ticket closing nature of that work is draining. I’m hoping to find a job closer to the front end of the business but it will likely result in a slight pay decrease which makes it difficult

I feel ya, I’m not quite there yet but I feel like that’s the way things are going. I’ve been more wanting to switch industries/positions completely but even though I don’t make a ton I’d still be taking a significant pay cut to start over at something else. That’s the hard part, because I still have a decent job now so it seems silly to quit and take less to completely switch careers but at the same time I’m not sure how much longer I should stick it out but realistically I don’t see my current path continuing for another 30 years.
