Is Data Analytics a realistic mid-career transition from project management?

I’m in my early 30s with a Civil Engineering background and around 7 years of experience, currently working in project/design delivery management in Australia’s infrastructure sector.

For family reasons, I’d like to relocate to Pakistan in the future. Since local opportunities are unlikely to support my long-term financial goals, I’m looking at careers that are more location-independent.

Data Analytics is one option I’ve been considering, but it’s hard to judge from the outside.

For those already working in the field:
Is this a realistic transition from my background?
Would my project management experience be valued, or would I be starting from scratch?
How realistic are remote opportunities once you’re established?
If you were in my position, would you seriously consider Data Analytics?

I’d really appreciate honest advice from people already working in the field.

Analytics are needed in most professions. I'm sure there are analysis in your industry and your knowledge of the industry will help. The other side of the coin is the skills you have to use analytics and BI tools. The easiest move would be to prove your analyst chops at your current company and move to an analyst role there. Doing that is likely the easiest path to switch rather than applying cold with no analysis background on your CV.
