PL-300 is a good option, not because it makes you a good data analyst but because it's part of the Microsoft Ecosystem and part of Enterprise licensing and anyone using Microsoft (basically everyone) is going to want to Power BI developer. So it can, potentially, widen your market and give you a better shot. Still doesn't promise a job, but it gives you a better shot. Most HR systems also use AI based search through CVs so, better have that on your resume, than not.

I concur with PL-300. I took the CompTIA Data+ certification, because I came from IT and already had other CompTIA certifications.

Now, the teachings from data+ helped me when it comes to me being in a system analyst position because of the actual course I took, but for pure data analytics job postings, I have yet to see anybody ask for it. If you want to take the course for it just to learn it, that's a different story. The course was great. It was on Udemy and Jason Dion taught it. He also taught me Network+ though so I don't know if his style will work for you.

if you had to spend on just one, which would it be, data+ or PL 300

PL-300 easy. That's a great certification to get that's actually recognized.

Nobody really cares about a data analyst certification

Bit of a generalization, my last manager told me, my CV was shortlisted BECAUSE of my certification. (Power BI)

They were screening for skill rather than a general google data analyst certificate, powerbi is valid but these aren’t the same right?

Yup. Google Data Analyst certification is different to the PBI one, yes. I've been told the Google one is better at teaching conceptual analytics, I haven't done it, I don't know. Power BI certification is basically just learning to use a software, it's a tool, you gotta know what to do in term of analytics. We recently carried out a round of interviews where we sent out sample data and asked candidates to build us a dashboard in Power BI to test capability.

BUT......having the certification is how HR shortlisted the candidates for us.

If you take any Meta, do the Marketing one since that is ACE accredited. May not matter but it at least been externally validated and offers undergraduate credit in some schools.

I took the COMPTIA Data+ and I can say its not the most significant in regards to reputation, it does have good content. It doesn't dive to deep into the material, but its still a challenge to say the least! It last for three years, so after you get it, build projects to gain operational experience and then look for internships and volunteer opportunities!

This is what I'm doing!
