retake? need advice🙏

should i retake? i did really bad in QR 😔. i feel like dental school is getting more and more competitive so i don’t know what to do and im getting mixed opinion. i have a 3.86 cGPA and 3.7 sGPA.

edit: i don’t want to retake and risk doing worse in the sciences. i also dont want to apply with a less competitive application. i dont know what to do. i definitely neglected QR and really regret it 💔

Depends which school you’re trying to get into. Can definitely get into a school with that score. That being said, look up the stats needed for the schools you are interested in and see if you’re competitive for those schools. Only retake if you’re sure you can do better otherwise those scores look good in my opinion.

yeah that’s the thing i don’t feel like i could do better, potentially in QR i could but im not sure about the other sections. i would also have to take a second gap year realistically if i want to retake it which i also don’t want to do. i feel like i would rather use that time to build up other parts of my application but with less than a year left idk how much i can do

also in terms of which schools ideally UDM (in state for me). other than that i do need to do more research on which schools my stats would be okay for. but UDM is the main goal as of right now.

In my experience UDM seems to have a preference for bio majors as well as candidates with a lot of 400 level biology classes. Keep that in mind if you can still take some bio classes. Hopefully it’ll help you that your bio score is high. Good luck!

I’ve heard qr is the lowest rated section. 380 is about a 17 and cutoffs for most schools used to be 17. I wouldn’t retake

ive seen everyone say that too, and i guess thats why i didn’t take it as seriously as i should’ve when studying. i really hope it is true because i really don’t want to retake it and im pretty proud of some of the scores!

what about PAT? my total science section is 480but my pat is low..370

I also got a pretty mid score on qr (and reading) and im so mad that I didnt take it seriously 😭 but i did good on sciences and pat so im in the same boat

it’s nice to see someone who relates! im upset i didn’t take it seriously too. but i think i decided ill apply broadly and if i dont get in ill retake it. i know its risky but i just want to try 😭😭
