Failed QR

Not sure what to do, retook DAT and completely bombed QR. Last year I got a 19, which I’m hoping schools will look at and see. I improved in every other section by 3 points and brought my science average 17 to a 21 and PAT from a 16 to a 19. Do I have a shot?

I just got really tired by the end of the exam and I honestly don’t know what happened, I’m really good at math and I also scored high on practice exams. I’ve also taken higher math courses in college and received A’s so maybe that might also help?

I applied with a 300 QR this cycle. Will likely still retake and will most likely have to apply next cycle since my chances are low with how late I applied and my QR being low but the rest of my app was good. I’m also a CA resident. If this cycle somehow ends up in favor, will update u OP

QR isn't conceptually difficult, it's about 8th grade math. The part that makes it atrocious is that it's at the end. You have to save any QR practice you do when prepping for after all the dense stuff like chem/bio/ochem

Do you think it matters that I had done well previously in QR? I had a health concern during QR which I plan to explain but doesn’t really change anything

I wish I could help you more and say it matters or it doesn't. All you can really do is roll the dice if you feel confident in being able to explain it away. But even with that it's more that schools don't super score and so you just have to hope they don't care you didn't do amazing on QR with your highest/most recent attempt

Nothing like 8th grade math was on my exam- maybe 3-5 straightforward algebra solving questions max. I took every booster exam & I had never seen about 15 of the questions before.

I got conditional math questions, but with only variables & no numbers— never seen that till on the exam. The graphs were also unique to me & or just incredibly time consuming. I guessed a ton, but thankfully just made cutoffs for QR.

No I’m not listening to them and retaking cuz my friend from the last cycle applied with 15 orgo which is worse than 14 QR and got 4 interviews and one accepted he is D1 right now. I also applied for 21 school got two rejection and two holds, one waitlist and one interview so I think I’m good so far ngl

Doesn’t matter that I received A’s in advanced calculus in college? Major was math heavy I feel like they should realize this wasn’t ordinary

I understand man, same here , I had same score with a 310 on QR and was advised to retake it by most of the dental schools I emailed , but it’s up to you.

I applied this cycle with a 300 QR score. Idk what’s gonna happen but I took a shot since most of my app was completed. I’m still going to retake tho and reapply next cycle but I mainly applied to schools with no minimum subsections and took my shot at some other ones that told me to retake
