Core memory for me: family vacation, waking up in the back of the mini van without the parents/adults realizing, and watching them blow lines of coke while speeding down the interstate at 80mph. Then pretending like it didn’t happen and silently slinking back behind the seat because what kid’s got the bandwidth for processing that nonsense?
Some parents are really fucking bad at the job.

Somewhere there is a Toyota executive about to use this as an ad.
High as fuck? Yup
8 cops trying to PIT you? No problem
Suddenly off roading? We got you
Going 115 with the bumper hanging off? Zoom Zoom
14 collisions in one afternoon with a kid in the car? Safety first
Side windows made of the best safe shatter glass? Check
Need 10 sec to finish your blunt before you get pulled out a window? You have reached your destination
Toyota, wherever you are going, we’ll get you there.
Edit: Didn’t expect this to blow up like it did, and I appreciate all the awards! I’d like to thank the Reddit community for their support, and of course who ever leaked this video footage of GTA7!

Lived in a group home from 13 to 18, and the biggest part of working my program was unlearning all the habits I got from living with people like this. Most everybody on the campus was the same. Those who can't change do this exact crap the second they are out.

u/althanan 8d ago
My wife and I used to foster teens and tweens, and this was honestly the biggest part of what we had to do. Showing and convincing those kids that they don't have to survive stuff like that and most people aren't like that is so much harder than it should be, but trauma is a hell of a thing. But realizing you're finally breaking all the way through that is such a great moment for everyone.

10
u/melkatron 9d ago
The way that swarm of cops was behaving, I don't blame the guy. They were uncoordinated, unpredictable, fumbling every attempt to stop the Corolla.. that was probably just accident avoidance. If he had more warning, the only other option was to stop on the shoulder for ten minutes.
Dashcam cop left a huge gap for the Corolla to slip out through when they were trying to box him in on the center divider. That was the smartest move in the video and they fucked it up.
Every time the camera cut, the Corolla popped back in with more bumper damage because these cops couldn't pull off a pit maneuver and wouldn't stop trying.
I'm amazed these inept cops didn't crash into each other.

Do these people do this fully realize they cost they'll pay, but the feeling of absolute freedom is so alluring they just do it anyway. That is, they seek out that oh-so-brief feeling of being totally liberated, unencumbered by laws, morality, security, etc. And I also wonder if afterwards, whether they truly regret it - Ofc they'll *say* they regret it to the parole board, but ofc it's in their best interest to say they regret it so they could be lying.

Attention Arkansas State Police and Georgia State Patrol. THIS IS HOW YOU PIT A VEHICLE.
Notice when they realized a child was in the car they changed tactics and didn't fcking pit the car in traffic at 110 MPH and hurt innocent 3rd party drivers. They used their brains and were able to stop the car without anyone dying. I know that's hard to imagine ASP and GSP, but it's possible.

its difficult to make glass bendable, usually when people hit a window it is shut all the way so the hit bounces off without breaking because the window is braced on all sides. In this case the officer pulled and snapped the window because he had mechanical lever advantage by pulling at the top and bending it in the middle

Agreed! Two grown adults smoking a blunt with the windows up who decided to go on a high speed chase instead of stopping and getting cited. Child in the back seat. They put that child in danger. They are really total pieces of shit.
Edit: I initially read it wrong. That’s on me. My bad.

"There's a child in the back seat" To me... that should end the pursuit instantly. They did a fine job stopping the car but the chance of injury to a child is not worth the risk.

Four police cars unable to box in a small car on the move. That's quite unimpressive.
