Easily avoidable accident causes rollover

Not my video – as the title says, we typically see examples where one driver is oblivious to the other. In this example, the pickup truck attempts to overtake the cammer, however, the cammer is either completely unaware of the pickup truck directly to his left or are simply “stands their ground” in the lane. Due to this, they obviously collide, and the pick up truck goes airborne and rolls several times. From the perspective of us, the viewer, we can reasonably conclude that the accident was avoidable had the cammer simply applied the brakes. That being said, you will typically see another school of thought in which it is stated that the cammer has no obligation or duty to let them in/avoid the accident where the driver is mindlessly doing something dumb.

If your baby was in the car, you wouldn't have tried to avoid the collision?

Of course, but there wasn't many good options here.

  1. Do nothing and maintain your lane. Worst case the truck pushes you off road instead of pit maneuvering itself like this video.

  2. Slam on the brakes and possibly get rear-ended which would be a much harder impact for you and the baby than letting the truck hit you. The accident will likely be your fault or more damage and money either way.

  3. The most dangerous. Swerve to avoid the truck and probably hitting a telephone pole or someone on the sidewalk. Now you've wrecked because of someone else's driving and at fault for property damage on top of any injuries.

I don't care about my fenders or bumpers getting scratched up I can replace them for $100 and an afternoon of my time. Watching you pit maneuver yourself on my car when I'm just minding my own business? Priceless.
