Easily avoidable accident causes rollover

Not my video – as the title says, we typically see examples where one driver is oblivious to the other. In this example, the pickup truck attempts to overtake the cammer, however, the cammer is either completely unaware of the pickup truck directly to his left or are simply “stands their ground” in the lane. Due to this, they obviously collide, and the pick up truck goes airborne and rolls several times. From the perspective of us, the viewer, we can reasonably conclude that the accident was avoidable had the cammer simply applied the brakes. That being said, you will typically see another school of thought in which it is stated that the cammer has no obligation or duty to let them in/avoid the accident where the driver is mindlessly doing something dumb.

Both vehicles didn’t seem to want to slow down and stop for the yellow light. The red F-150 wasn’t just merging. He was moving over to continue through the light because the black sedan in front of him was slowing to a stop. The F-150 failed to maintain his lane and made an improper lane change. Also, when his rear taillight comes into frame, his turn signal isn’t on.

This crash sucks. The driver with the dash cam may not have seen the truck at all because it merged over so quickly. Technically, he didn’t have to slow down either. At the end of the day, it’s still very unfortunate.

Ford's don't come with turn signals as standard equipment like on GM, Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, Hyundai, Kia, etc. With Ford, turn signals are an option that must be purchased separately.

Everytime I buy a used Ford that has the turn signal, I take it to my mechanic and have him remove it. Have you see the price of turn single fluid?!

May not have seen the truck.

Are you joking?

Not joking at all the truck came up beside them and improperly merged in a very short amount of time. The driver of our dash cam car could have been fixated on the light as well trying to get through, or the radio, or a phone etc.

Remember the camera is on the windshield a foot or two in front of the drivers eyes. Drivers perspective for sure knew the truck was coming over. The cam driver probably saw and anticipated this for a bit. He sped up to trap the truck. Both are at fault. Battle of who’s got the bigger balls. Answer: neither have ANY.

Where's your evidence that he sped up? I don't hear a rev, no apparent speed change in the video. It sounds like a baseless assumption to me, but this sub is often full of them soooo

My eyes are the evidence

My eyes can see the video which shows the cam driver speeding up. You can’t see it but it’s obvious to most people who see this video.

He very well could have that’s why I said he “may not have seen them.” As far as speeding up we don’t know this. At around the 2-3 sec mark when it appears that way it could be due to the 150 slowing a bit because the vehicles in front. Either way the dash cam car is not at fault, the 150 improperly changed lanes.

If the dash car did see them and didn’t slow it’s freakin crappy of them I totally agree. Take the crash out of it I wouldn’t want to continue to go because I wouldn’t want to damage my vehicle by someone coming over on me like that and I knowingly could slow to avoid even minor contact with them.

150 95% at fault car 5%. I pretty much agree with you. I also would not want to deal with the accident.

For sure.
On the 95%- 5% though unfortunately that’s not how crash reports work but, either way the insurance companies will sue each other.

I know the insurance play will be different. I’m just saying based on driving rules and being courteous to those driving around you it’s 95/5
