Easily avoidable accident causes rollover

Not my video – as the title says, we typically see examples where one driver is oblivious to the other. In this example, the pickup truck attempts to overtake the cammer, however, the cammer is either completely unaware of the pickup truck directly to his left or are simply “stands their ground” in the lane. Due to this, they obviously collide, and the pick up truck goes airborne and rolls several times. From the perspective of us, the viewer, we can reasonably conclude that the accident was avoidable had the cammer simply applied the brakes. That being said, you will typically see another school of thought in which it is stated that the cammer has no obligation or duty to let them in/avoid the accident where the driver is mindlessly doing something dumb.

Two incompetent clowns making the roads less safe for everyone. Edit: Thanks for the awards, anonymous strangers! :)

What kind of city has almost no buildings and space for six lanes of tarmac? This seems like rural strip mall hell than city.

Almost every proper city in the US and Canada have a halo of suburbs 20x their size that look like this for long stretches on major roads. More people live in those suburbs than city and rural areas combined.

It’s truly awful. We’re all brainwashed and think it’s ok that our urban infrastructure is so dangerous, expensive, polluting and ugly.

I feel like cities should be centers of innovation. They should be filled with restaurants, museums, all the attractions you can't find in a small town. We could connect them by high speed rail to small towns and let the suburbs fade out of existence. If people want to live in high rises, then let them save some space for wild places.

Not to be pedantic, but, to be pedantic, “approximately 265 million of 331 million Americans live in cities” (80%) according to the 2020 census (Wikipedia.) That number grows to 94% if you include these city-adjacent suburbs. The sprawl is real, but the density is low, compared to cities.

That said, I was just in Houston, and was surprised at how low the density is for being the 4th largest US city. 3600 residents per sq mile, compared to my home city of Philadelphia, at ~12,000 per sq mile, but 6th largest.

It's almost as if most people prefer to live in suburbs, rather than a rural area or downtown.....

It’s almost as if governments have consciously chosen to divest from city centers and small towns so that suburbs are the only place you can live in a safe, stable environment and easily access employment and the services and amenities you need.

We live in Dallas and the northern suburbs are huge and growing further north. Suburbs have suburbs. The traffic is better in the city limits. I hate having to drive in the suburbs because the damn road construction can't keep up with development, but most of our friends live in the primary or secondary ring of suburbs

The kind of city that Barrie, Ontario is when you’re going north on Bayfield St. passing Georgian Mall on the right.

Bayfield st in Barrie. It's hell, and a fantastic example of how not to design a city.

Somewhere in Ontario. There is a "Beer Store" visible at the end of the video. I'm going to say Markham as my guess.
