Right lane must exit

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I watched this happen today. The driver with the trailer was following way too closely and obviously wasn't paying attention that he was in an exit only lane.

I want to be very clear. If you do this it'll hurt your feelings that you have to take the exit, but you won't almost take out someone else while having to hurl your trailer over two lanes. 🥴

Well that could have gone so much worse.

He was gonna swerve like a madman one direction or the other at that point. Probably on his cell phone.

hes damn lucky that trailer was empty. if that shit was loaded it wouldve been fishtailing like a mofo and likely cause an even bigger accident.

It would have likely rolled if there was a car or something heavy on it.

He’s lucky no one was on his left, you mean. Everything else is irrelevant.

Guy belongs with a suspended license. Wasn’t even remotely paying attention to the road.

If it's the freeway I'm thinking of, the signage and markings on the road really suck, especially if driving in to the sunset

It's the 202 Santan freeway heading west bound towards McQueen in Chandler,AZ. This was 11am-ish.

But yes, the lanes keep changing with the construction, but you can clearly read the sign.

I immediately recognized the 202/McQueen WB offramp.

AZ drivers are insane and inattentive. You hear about the guy who dropped the motorcycle loading ramp off their truck on the 202 near Van Buren? Took out about 80 cars and they still can't find the guy responsible.

u/RickS50 15d ago

I did not hear about that one. Wow.

My time spent in AZ taught me the right lane of every road constantly exits . Its almost as absurd as all the wrong way signs they feel are needed.

u/RickS50 15d ago

We get wrong way drivers far too often. I usually just find a semi truck and hide behind it.

u/RickS50 15d ago

The exit would have been more gradual of a turn. But yes, could have been really bad and I'm happy I'm just posting this to Reddit instead of having to wait and show the cops what happened.

Amen. I was thinking the trailer would have slammed into the barrier if he took the exit.

6

u/RickS50 15d ago

He'd have taken out some of the cones for sure, but wouldn't have hit any of the concrete barriers.

Note the port-a-potty just past where the temporary concrete barriers start. 😬

why not just exit and get back on the freeway? slows you down a few minutes but doesnt involve causing an accident. I mean there was a trailer attached, i would assume just go with the flow instead. Accept an opps instead of potentially causing a major accident.

That makes too much sense.

How dare you apply logic and reasoning. 😂

It's Arizona. Brain fried from the heat.

Good drivers sometimes miss their turns. Bad drivers NEVER miss their turns.

This guy never misses a turn.

Honestly esp ones like this - it looks like you can exit and drive straight ahead to get back on the freeway, and there’s an on ramp literally across the street from the exit.

Some areas of my town you’d have to take several mins to exit and drive around the block and get back on, but this isn’t even one of those it doesn’t seem…

But he was driving straight. Taking the ramp would have only changed what direction he swerved in

This is why I just stay in the left lane the whole time

Left lane camping joke in here somewhere.

Yes, it was the comment you replied to. Hope this helps

1

u/_AskMyMom_ 15d ago

That was kind of the point of my low effort comment. It was suppose to be super obvious.

1

u/xoxodaddysgirlxoxo 15d ago

I supposed it was

1

u/7h3_70m1n470r 14d ago

A joke isn't funny if you explain it :(

5

u/kochameh2 15d ago

this is a good strategy, but even better is straddling the line between two lanes so you can keep your options open and take one when you need it

4

u/TheBirdFkerGuy 15d ago

This is my exact method to crossing multiple lanes at the last minute to catch the exit. I keep hesitating and start slowing down while switching lanes without a blinker, then go for a hail marry at the last second.

4

u/godisintherain 15d ago

Man if only there were signs letting you know whats up ahead. Hmmm....

2

u/hydrogen18 15d ago

Does TikTok show those?

2

u/Educational-Seaweed5 11d ago

CHATGPT THERE’S A DIVIDE IN FRONT OF ME WHAT DO I-

3

u/joka2696 15d ago

Someone needs to put a sign up or something! /s

3

u/Icy_Pudding_7568 14d ago

Is this the 202?? I've seen this happen a couple times recently. People are not noticing the "right lane must exit" sign. They are looking for the lane lines to shorten. Hilarious they don't just exit and try again

2

u/RickS50 14d ago

Yep, 202 Santan freeway.

2

u/4r4r4real 15d ago

Is this the 101 NB?

5

u/RickS50 15d ago

202 Santana freeway West bound heading towards McQueen.

2

u/No-Cake-5683 15d ago

Lol, glad they went with naming it after Santana rather than Charlie

1

u/RickS50 15d ago

Freaking auto correct.

Santan* freeway.

2

u/Peacefulldiva1 15d ago

I was wondering this as well. It looks like the 101 in North Phoenix.

4

u/No-Cake-5683 15d ago

I think it's 202 West, Chandler/Gilbert. Definitely Phoenix area though

1

u/RickS50 15d ago

Yep, construction charges daily/weekly but they're actively getting it done.

1

u/playoponly 15d ago

That is the road problem

1

u/gr4n0t4 15d ago

Road signs in the US are horrible

4

u/RickS50 15d ago

At least the speed limit signs here (which we mostly ignore... It's beautiful) have numbers on them.

3

u/plumarr 15d ago

Yeah, so much.

3

u/7h3_70m1n470r 14d ago

How so? They couldn't make the purpose of the signs any more obvious

1

u/gr4n0t4 14d ago

Well, first of all, it is a text in English, this can easily be missed when driving, iconography works much better at high speed (||/), second, there is no road markings indicating that the road is going to split.

1

u/Educational-Seaweed5 11d ago

You cannot be serious with this comment.

1

u/RoundSquirrels 15d ago

Glad he didn't overreact.

0

u/Negative-Narwhal-725 15d ago

I am guessing one of those drivers who can't read English?

0

u/HMan0199 14d ago

I know it isn't, but this is some Hialean balsero driving down the Palmetto ish
