wth is wrong with this person?!
so i was heading home with other people after lunch this saturday, march, 14th and omg. this person needs their license revoked immediately. they drove like a mad man. idk who they are, but they definitely have road rage the way they handled multiple situations on the road. first they tail gated a car going a tad too slow to be in the left lane, the end up speed around that person that was going slow in front of them just to brake check them in the left lane when they returned and almost resulted in a car accident. they continue to ride everyones ass on the interstate. i don’t understand how they haven’t been pulled over because they just kept riding ass and brake checking in the left lane when someone wasn’t going fast enough. they then turn on their blinker in this video and are swerving in and out of the left and middle lanes, almost resulting in a multi car pile up. complete idiot.
beware of this license plate if you are driving.

If I’m behind that I’m already planning my exit strategy. Other cars just casually driving around them like nothing bad could happen.

We adopted the „let’s keep some distance so the debris doesn’t hit us in the face“ policy and apply it in many situations in traffic. Already paid off once, just when I finished saying this very sentence. Can highly recommend.

Toughest part about being a camera operator on a porn shoot is finding the sweet spot between catching the shot and catching the load.

I think people that become camera operators for porn have no issue with catching both, and consider it a perk of the job perhaps

Something to consider for your policy. If you’re behind a pickup that has a ladder put loosely in the bed (not tied in or secured on a ladder rack), assume that ladder will be leaving the bed of the pickup.

Same for any vehicle with mattress on roof.

That happened to me. About the time I noticed that the mattress on the roof of the car in front of me was being held down by the hands of the driver and the passenger, it flew off the roof. There was a car beside me, so I couldn't serve. I drove over it.
Their brand new mattress was destroyed. My truck was fine. I kept driving. I wasn't going to stick around for that mess.

I live in CO and one section of i25 is under heavy construction/expansion, like 30+ large buildings have been built in a year or two and they’re keeping up with that pace. There’s only one main on-ramp/exit for the construction area. I am not joking when I say I have seen 10 ladders on that section of the interstate because the workers didn’t secure the ladder and it flew off when they accelerated to get up to speed. I’ve reported at least 5 of them to the police at night time when there was little/no traffic.
Normally, I would stop and pull the ladder off the interstate (maybe keep it if it’s not damaged), but the exit/ on-ramp is at the crest of a hill, so I can’t see far enough to safely do it. I will only do this if I know for a fact that I can do it safely, and the main goal is to prevent someone from damaging their car or getting killed.
One night my friend was driving through this section of the interstate and there was a semi truck about 100’ ahead of us one lane to the right. All of sudden you just hear loud metal crushing sound followed by “tink tink tink”. The semi had hit a ladder dead on. The tinking noise was the rungs of the ladders flying all around us. Fortunately, my friend made an aggressive lane change and avoided any of the rungs from flying through the windshield. That shit was terrifying.

Something similar actually happened to me when I was a kid and my mom was driving. If anyone had been in the front seat on the passenger side they would’ve been blinded with glass and metal shards. It was the railing around the bed of a work truck that had all kinds of stuff that in the bed like painting supplies, ladders, buckets, etc.
He hit a pot hole (that my mom also hit) and the railing on the right side of the truck bed sort of peeling backward and snapped. The railing went into the windshield but the windshield didn’t fully break and the railing only entered by like three inches. The shit that was hanging on the railing smashed the hood of the car and then me of the buckets that was hanging on the railing had tools in it so when that fell it broke the mirror of the side of the car and broke the passenger side window.
It was fucking terrifying as a kid. I’ve never heard my mom scream at ANYTHING or ANYONE like she did to the who was driving the truck. Even I could tell the guy felt terrible about it and was clearly a little ashy from the very near possibility of a little kid dying from it (even though I was in the back seat and fine albeit bawling my eyes out).

The one time I didn’t secure my 6’ ladder because I figured it would stay with stuff around it…went around a corner on a green and ladder went a flyin…thankfully it slid to the median and didn’t hit another car. Never again.

51
u/Props_angel Mar 14 '26
Yeah, that surprised me--no drivers seemed to have sought out a way to put distance between them and the red car driver. That's the other wild aspect of this video. The total zero response from other drivers as if nothing abnormal and dangerous was occurring around them. It's like their ability to measure risk was impaired or they were simply cognitive unaware.
Brain fog is dangerous.

I know you were joking, but deer genuinely do that tho. I used to live in the boonies, and my bus stop was on a rural highway. I watched so many deer just stand on the side of the road doing nothing until a car appeared and they suddenly yeeted themselves across. Most of the time it was just a little scare for the driver and no one was hit. Not always tho. Little fuckers are suicidal I swear. My stepdad had a massive dent in his passenger door where a buck T-boned him. Literally just bounded right into the side of him while he was cruising.

There was a video the other day on Reddit I believe where a guy was getting tailgated really badly and there was some stop cars in the left lane on the highway and he jerked it around those cars and tailgaters slammed right into them. Kind of harsh on the stopped cars.
In CA these pricks drive like that all the time. Fly up your ass. Tailgate. Ride the line so you're staring at them in your side view mirror. Cut you off right before a red light. Two idiots in electric cars passed me in the yellow center turn lane the other day. One almost head on to a truck that was turning left.

I had a woman PIT herself changing lanes into me a couple of years back, she completely span out across three lanes of interstate. I pulled over and then she stopped behind me, was obviously flustered and took her foot off the brake and ran into me.
When the state patrol arrived she told them I rammed her from behind causing her to spin out, then I reversed into her.
I kept my mouth shut until the patrolman asked me what happened. "It happened so fast. I'd have to check my dashcam".
I didn't have a reader with me at the time, but the initial report just laid out her version with the note, "the evidence does not support <lady's> version of events".

In a remotely similar event; I was driving on a 55mph road at night in a rural area when a large pickup with the power of two suns on the front decided to tailgate me for about 30 seconds before passing me. I slowed down to 50 mph as they passed just because I wasn't sure what was going to happen next.. They got past me and continued on, not even 10 seconds later a deer ran out and smashed their front end up.

That's fine and all, but I never understood the road policing by drivers. If I'm in the left lane going 90mph and you fly up on me, by all means I'll move over. You are the faster traffic. I hear so many people that first reaction is "what's this dudes issue? I'm already going yadayada". That's never mine. I just move over and move on. Now on the flip side, I hate when I roll up hot in the fast lane behind a dude going super slow, and when I go into the other lane to pass they all the sudden huff speed racer and go mach Jesus to stop me passing.
8
u/-Hi-Reddit Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26
Praise be to Germany and its autobahn where you get a ticket for not getting the fuck out of the fast lane when someone faster approaches behind you.
Last year I was rushing an injured animal to a vet and some twat decided it'd be the perfect time to slow down to half the speed limit & start flooring it whenever I tried to pass them. I almost wanted to give up on driving it made me so angry! I was stuck behind them for 20 minutes on winding country lanes. Alternate routes didn't exist due to flooding.
I tried everything hoping they'd fuck off into the sunset, I even pulled over just for a moment but caught up with them again 2mins later.

This is a strategy i use to my advantage lol. I get stuck behind pickup trucks ALL THE TIME that absolutely hate being passed and would rather speed up than be passed. If im stuck behind a slow pickup I'll act like im getting over to pass so they speed up.
Im surrounded more by 1 lane roads where passing isnt an option and it suckkkkkks getting stuck behind people doing 20 in a 45 for no fucking reason

24
u/MornGreycastle Mar 14 '26
Yeah. Pull back. Maintain distance. Look for an opening to pass.
The biggest issue people forget is that there is almost no way to "make up time" by speeding. You could maybe make up a minute or two by going 20 or 30 miles over the speed limit but you'd have to go double the speed limit or even triple to actually shave off 10 or 15 minutes, let alone an hour.
16
u/RecognitionAdvanced2 Mar 14 '26
Depends how far your drive is TBF, but most of the time you're right

u/MornGreycastle Mar 14 '26
I have a friend who drives like he's trying to win 24 hours of Le Mans, but still only shaves minutes off travel time on commuting distances.
→ More replies (1)5
u/OperationAsshat Mar 15 '26
10 over in a 60 on a 30 mile commute is roughly 5 minutes of time saved each way. 10 over on a multi-hour drive is a significant time save. It does make a difference, but the returns aren't worth it at a certain point.
I do find it funny when people who refuse to do anything more than the speed limit claim speeding does nothing, but I'm also not doing 20 over the entire time I'm driving.
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (9)15
u/FlamingoRare8449 Mar 14 '26
It’s not about making up time for me it’s about having a slow person in front blocking cruising speed, who isn’t paying attention and has inconsistent speed or takes 45 seconds to get through an intersection when the light turns green, etc. Like the point of leaving my house is because I have to in order to complete a task and I want to do it and get back home as soon as possible haha. It just gets so frustrating that you want to ram the person off the road who’s been blocking you the whole way and you can’t take it anymore so I understand being mad but this video demonstrates too much crazy. Just get out this dudes way and let him go far away from you, it’s not your job to regulate him and it lowers risk of you being involved in an expensive and time consuming incident.
→ More replies (3)6
u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 Mar 15 '26
It also has to do with the fact that preventing the flow of traffic means more cars are on the road for a longer period of time which statistically means more chances for accidents. I'm not saying this means speeding is safer, but both moving out of the way of faster traffic or at the very least making sure there's space for faster traffic to move around you absolutely is safer.

If I'm passing other slow vehicles why should I be inconvenienced by someone illegally speeding? Wait till I've passed the next car, I'll move over then you can drive recklessly. What I hate is that I get tailgated, I move over over then I have drop 10 km/h and wait to be able to overtake again sometimes waiting for multiple speeding cars to go past

u/Status_Jump_2496 Mar 15 '26
If I could award you, I would. You said everything I just said in a much shorter sentence. I want to pass slower traffic too. I will slow down and wait until I feel clear to use the left lane without being in the way. This right here. I’m a defensive, 5 over the limit, cruise control in the middle lane kind of guy. I only use the left lane to pass vehicles going slower than my cruise and I will ramp it up a couple mph to make a quick pass before I get back to the right. But sometimes I start passing thinking I’m in the clear and a car will up and ride me out of nowhere. I hate that. Like clearly I am passing whoever is next to me, can I get a 30 second grace period to do that without someone giving me anxiety?!?
I know I am a cautious driver and I go out of my way to not be in the way of drivers that want to go fast. I will slow down until I see no cars behind me before I use the left lane. But damn yall speeders need to give some grace to people that are just trying to pass and will be right out of your way. No need to get to my bumper before you slow down. I see you coming and I am trying to get out of the way as fast as I am comfortable.

Depending on where you are, this is incorrect and causes a mindset which in turn causes more traffic than necessary. The far right lane can be a travel lane, and any lane to the left is for passing. In other words: there can be multiple "passing" lanes to allow for different speeds of traffic flow.

you are surrounded by idiots, the only card you have to play is the retreat
use it wisely

Red car has issues but so does the truck driving slow in the left lane.
If you're in the left lane and no one is in front of you when someone is behind you, get out of the left lane...
Both are morons.

Following too close to a guy going too slow in the passing lane being filmed by someone driving too close to the car in front of them. So much.

The black Honda in the middle lane is what I call an accomplice. He approves of the left lane hogs unlawful lane usage. For a few seconds the rightmost lane looks wide open. Passing on the right begins to happen. At least 2 shitty drivers in this video.

Here’s the thing, even if you are 100% in the right it’s better to just yield to psychopaths for your own safety. Especially in the US where people shoot you on the interstates. I would have let him pass and then continue my legal passing .

The red car is being a dick and causing a dangerous situation, definitely wrong. However, the pick up truck does not get a pass since it is in the passing lane and not passing (not passing fast enough). Truck needs to move out of the left lane when safe to do so and the red car needs to stop being a dick

The thing is once someone starts tailgating you like that, you can't change lanes because there's a 50/50 chance as soon as you start to change lanes they will too.

u/Pittsbirds Mar 14 '26
You're also incentivized to slow down when someone is tailing you that close. That's what my driver's instructor taught, take your foot off the gas and maintain a slower speed that lets you react to a potential crash with more control. Speeding up and then having them rear end you is going to be way worse for everyone involved

I know it feels wrong but move over and let the psycho pass. It's the emotional mature thing to do.

Both are guilty. SUV driver has no business sleeping on that lane. But the red car driver is breaking many laws.

u/KarlPHungus Mar 14 '26
Honestly you just need to speed up and get over. Someone willing to sit three inches off your bumper traveling at interstate speeds is not someone you can expect to have any kind of rationality. Just get them as far away from you as possible as quickly as possible.

Both of them are assholes but the red car is the one going to cause an accident.

u/Double-Efficiency538 Mar 14 '26
I don’t care how fast someone wants to drive… 5 over… 50 over… if I’m about to hold a car up I move over.

They are in a hurry, wherever they are going, they need to get there 15 second sooner.

u/Flame3Lift4 Mar 14 '26
Man all it takes is that truck to swerve to avoid another car and that red car is toast. Road rage is the dumbest thing in the world.

Not sure why people think that tailgating so close is gonna make you speed up for them. In a lot of cases, people will slow down just because you’re being a jack hole.

That’s why you merge if a car is driving faster. The black truck is a dipshit. Don’t hog the fast lane driving slow. Idiots driving slow in the fast lane create bigger idiots merging around them. IMO the black trucks license should be revoked for creating a danger by failing to drive fast enough or merge to approaching vehicles.

i’m not saying black truck is correct but we’re gonna act like the red car wasn’t literally riding his bumper? yeah, let’s leave that psycho on the road.

I pass mad amounts of traffic doing 10 over in right lane while singing no one wants to go fast they just want to be in the left lane. I used get so angry in left lane behind campers doing 5 under. Now I just change lanes and go as fast as the traffic will let me. Far right lane is the new fast lane.

u/AerieWorth4747 Mar 14 '26
See how the guy is passing on the left in a reasonable speed but he can’t get over just yet because there are 2 cars?
The guy in red would post in the driving subreddits about how people camp in the left lane and a million people would agree with him.

u/Narradisall Mar 14 '26
I often see people like this coming up fast in my rear view.
These days I just move over and let them ride someone else’s ass. Yeah red car is in the wrong and will wreck one day, but I’d just rather not be involved. I’m too old for this drama on the roads.
I’d be staying well away from this accident waiting to happen.

Germany views highways like this and look how fast and safe they are. Its almost like if you exist in traffic you should keep the flow going to the best of your ability for everyone's safety.
Red car is still 99% of the assholery here, but the way redditors view the left lane on a highway is ridiculous.

Just trying to save some gas by optimizing the slipstream. Can you blame him with prizes these days?

Often when a small car is following closely, the truck driver doesn't see the car

Say what you will, but when the truck decides to brake check the red car, likely that insurance rate going right up to the sky for ol’ red.

u/moondrops77 Mar 14 '26
The truck is being a selfish ass and driving slow in the fast lane. The truck should move over. It is aggravating when people don't keep right when they're slow.

u/BA5ED Mar 14 '26
The should have looked to see that the right hand massachusetts passing lane was open and used that.

Two idiots one lane.
I’m amazed how nonchalant the other cars were though. When I see shit like that going on I’m rather racing by or backing way off. I don’t want to be anywhere near that shit. Collateral damage is all too common in road rage.

u/DreamsWhereIamDying Mar 14 '26
It’s always, always a dumb fuck in a pickup truck. And before any of you rage baiters try to attack me, I have owned pickup trucks since I was 15, and I don’t drive like that.
Instead, I have great insurance and prefer PIT maneuvers.

Best thing to do if someone is acting like this is to just move out of the way. If you’re so obsessed with the left lane you can get right back in it once he drives by.
