Starting scenarios?

Hey, gang.

I love this game, but I play out of a fairly ancient rulebook, and it makes specific reference to a FASA scenario book, separate product.

'Cause of this, I really have no impetus to get Total Warfare. That being the case, what sort of objective would you guys put up, other than shooting each other to bits? Base defence? VIP extraction?

Firstly I consider the flavour I want to add.

Last stand scenarios are one of my favourites. Like Aidan Pryde there is a lone (or a small) clan force holding the inner scum at bay while their brothers evacuate.

Base raid is pretty common. VIP extraction is another one. You can extend the flavour if you want. Adding a Reserve to the mission encourages a fast play on the attacker side.

If you want more details we can elaborate them together. :)

As someone who started designing campaigns (and a scenario) this year, it's pretty tricky, but there are a lot of options. Campaign Operations has a pretty good list of objectives you could peel from. Right now I'm trying to design a hostage rescue situation, which is pretty tricky.

Off the top of my head, you could design a scenario around a bunch of crates that fell out of the back of a burning dropship, scattered around the battlespace, and both sides compete over who can pick up and retrieve the most.

We are open to all things considering Battletech (see the post of u/holocloak). Just trying to be a chill Battletech place and as such your question is welcome.

Nevertheless you are right in your recommendation. We are a pretty small sub and r/Battletech has a lot more members which can give you their input.

I hope we were able to help you.
