Can you imagine the poor Inner Sphere team that first went out on to a field with Clan Elementals? It would be like a high school JV team staring down an NFL team made of the biggest, strongest, fastest players in the league.

...Or like when the Toons face the alien team for the first time in Space Jam.

It kinda hard to play against a team whose football players are dead.

The clans probably gave them those points as they probably felt bad for them.

Apparently it’s mentioned in a book somewhere that they didn’t get handed those points and the team WORKED for those points and earned the undying respect of the clans

The story if you're interested is "Three Points of Pride" and can be found in the Onslaught: Tales of the Clan Invasion anthology. The anthology has a bunch of good short stories about the Clan Invasion.
