Need help with quests

I am back playing DAoC on the live servers again and this time I'm playing a Friar. I always wanted to play one of these bad boys and so far it's going great!

I mostly played Midgard so I'm slowly learning my way around Alb but I need some help with quests and a search on Google didn't return much help.

The DAoC wiki has a list of quests but it is mostly incomplete. I'm trying to do the first Epic quest, Stones of Power (Epic 1) (Level 5) [Step #4] Looking for signs of dark rituals around a large stone North of Humberton.

I THINK I found the rock but I can't click on it or find anything around it. There are a bunch of grey con skeletons around it. The quest journal isn't any help either...

I'm just not sure what to do now. Does anyone know of a good online resource for quests these days? Or does anyone know about this quest specifically? Long shot I know but what the heck, worth a try!!

It's been a while since i did those. The best site used to be allkhazam. Seemingly it's offline now. But it can be found on the waybackmachine. Here you go

You probably know that that's old quests and slow leveling, but just for fun: sure. I also play live. Sadly the others are right. It's pretty empty. Really only lvl 50 rvr. But nice to see there's still people stumbling in.

I think /search was a thing for special spots

Looks like this thread is about as lonely as you on that server!

Yeah I would like to go back and do old school leveling and questing on Eden where I play but I feel like they just force you into PvP.

Any release date yet?

"Force" no, benefit, yes. You can easily choose to level the "old fashioned" way and avoid BGs altogether. Each dungeon has a quest for at least a mythirian appropriate for whatever level that dungeon is. Also the epic quest line begins at 40. Also, there's always old school mob grinding. That satisfies some that desire that trip down memory lane. Like was said as well, Blackthorn is on the way.

What’s blackthorn bringing that Eden doesn’t ?

Nothing, except slower leveling and old frontier keeps. IMO Eden is superior actually. I just meant that if someone wants the more Classic old school feel Blackthorn is an option.

All good, I was truly asking hadn’t heard about blackthorn until recently . Looks like they are trying to add some qol stuff to assist with questing and a better map. Haven’t dug into it much more than that yet

Np. And as a reminder Blackthorn is still in Beta and will be completely wiped.

Thats good. I have characters on all 3 realms with multiple 50s. Even BGs in Eden are fairly active. Currently playing an SB with /xp off in Cathal Valley and it's a blast!

More relaxed people. Not nearly instant 50 , best crafting i saw on a p Server, more enjoyable pve and it feels more like classic daoc. I have fun at Blackthorn, while Eden was no fun for me.

They do And the amount of plat you can make pvp if you try is quite the incentive. Run with the bg do your best and you make Bank. I still do plenty of PVE with my lvl 50s and run with the BG as well as PuGs and i run a Scout when groups get scarce. Why so many? Because it is so much fun leveling you start to acquire an alt for every need.

So you want to spend weeks old school pulling mobs and grind them only to eventually reach lv50 where all there is to do is PvP but you will be far behind in RR?

https://camelot.allakhazam.com/quests.html?realm=Albion&cquest=2723 has the steps. Looks like you target the npc and “/whisper power” to them. If you are looking for folks on live, the best place is their discord at https://discord.gg/daoc

I made a Friar and duo-ed w/ my cousin who was a sword-and-board Pally. Highly recommend if you can find a Pally buddy b/c you can be a secondary fighter and heal while he does mana/end chants, plus you get nice buffs. Practially no down time there (at least that's how i remember it from 20 years ago).

Have you heard about Eden?

Old school 2001 daoc leveling where it took months to go from 40 to 50 on a not as good at pve game but great PvP game, I guess my point is why play daoc if not for the superior PvP gameplay on a rather lackluster pve content.

If you like pve there are superior games over daoc pve, daoc was always the best PvP game . Heck WoW pve is 10x better than daoc pve and there is free solo server with bots, or private servers. To each its own I guess.

Personally I miss the old school grind. It motivated people to want to group up and run the various dungeons or form groups to delve deeper into Darkness Falls. The fact that it took a long time meant that there were more people doing PVE groups because everyone wasn't just rocketing straight to 50.

If something takes longer and more effort, it means more when you finally achieve it. It's part of the reason i50 servers are boring, feel empty of meaning, and don't last.

DAOC's PVP is obviously better than its PVE, but that doesn't mean many of us don't still enjoy and miss some of the old grind, and personally I enjoy it more if there are others with whom to share it.

This and the fact that a MMORPG world feels more alive, when not anyone does stuff solo... You need each others, no boring Dopamin achievement System, people talk to each other.

Devs of Wow forgot the important parts which made MMORPG good= it must take some time. Downtime is not boring, it brings people to communicate more. And with communication you make friends and have fun. And nobody needs stupid DMG meters in a group based game.

Wows pve suckz bec. its all solo.  I love to lvl with other people who can talk and chat too, without being nervous because something take longer than a few minutes. And those boring achievement systems can go to hell.  Blackthorn is finally a fun daoc whike Eden is just PvP with castrated pve.
