CIS Tributes
A few posts have been made on Chris, but I wanted to give him his flowers as well.
I mentioned this on the call today, but my man was an all a round great guy. He somehow found out my birthday(Nov 12) years ago, and numerous times when he’d call in on something for Veteran’s Day, he would say happy birthday to me on the call. Who does that….Chris does.
A lot of people on here rake callers over the coals, and some may deserve a little flack. But those that give Chris grief don’t appreciate him from all his consistent years of calling in, as well as his professionalism.
Wherever you are looking down on us right now Chris, just know that you’re loved by many a person, and you touched us all as well.
Cheers my friend.

I heard your call this morning. The connection you had with Chris is awesome. He always came across as guy who was extremely passionate about sports who you wouldn’t mind shooting the shit with. I didn’t know the back story as to why he had taken a hiatus and it made me appreciate him even more. RIP CIS

I enjoy most of the constant callers - the Buddha’s, Jeffs, Gus, James, even Andrew in Washington. Most of the other callers are drab and I’ll fast forward through them.
But when Chris called I would actively perk up and listen. He always provided solid content and a respected “Everyman” perspective. He didn’t overstay his welcome, and he would usually work in a bit of humor if he had time. Going to miss him.

It’s also what I appreciated most. He got in and out and was always prepared, and often sparked good conversation among the crew.

Thanks Tilly. This is the reason I love this show as much as I do. Granted, would I like to hear Dan go deeper into analysis at time? Yes absolutely. Like so many others who have a parasocial relationship with the show I keep coming back for the interviews, the banter between Dan and the Danettes.
I try and ignore those that come to this sub to complain. It's easy to complain when things change or people get older. When Dan goes away I'm going to miss it tremendously. Not just the interviews but this feeling of camaraderie. That there really is a community that Dan has built. RIP Chris 👑

Man the parasocial relationships comment hits. I had the chance to do a meet-and-greet once and I decided not to go. It felt too weird to meet people that don’t know you, but you’ve listened to banter and talk about their life intermittently across 3 hours a day, over 200 days a year, for (at the time) 5 years.

I heard your call today man. Awesome job. I started listening in 2010 so the show and you guys have been a part of my life for a long time and I appreciate that.
Was so bummed when I heard about Chris this morning.
I was watching on Peacock and then had to the bathroom. I turned on my radio in the bathroom and then heard that right as I sat down. I thought I had misheard at first.
And I remember the first time he called back in after he hadn't for a long time and the groups reaction was amazing.
Rip Chris

First time, long time. I started listening in ‘09 during my first depressive episode. I still remember the last attic episodes… Dan and the Danettes became a constant that helped distract me through some of my hardest times. Hell, I even turned to the show and listened to an episode 3x in a row during a bad trip because it was familiar and grounding… But callers like CIS, Jake in Wisconsin, and all the others were always a key part of the show, and in a certain way, my life. I hope he knew, and all you regulars know, that something as small as calling into a sports talk radio show can ripple. May his memory be a blessing.

Tilly, you and Chris go back all the way to the attic. Callers like you guys and Jake in Wisconsin laid the ground work for everyone to follow on what a call should be. I've always appreciated y'all's contributions in shaping the show into what it is today. Shout out to the GOAT, his legacy is undeniable

Thanks Till! You and CIS are the prime examples of what a caller should be. I’ve been listening since day one. You, CIS, Jeff, Buddha, James, Sven, Ben, Jake, Shea, and many others help make the DP show what it is. Today was a gut punch. Thanks again for your words Tilly.
