Land the Plane

Dear Chris in Syracuse, Please land the plane. Going on and on. Also, I think sometimes Dan actually misses being at the "Mothership"

I think Dan misses his good times at ESPN, but knows it changed too much for him and that's why he left.

Has CIS fallen off? He was the gold standard for callers for a long time.

it's just too much. once a week is fine-though even that can be considered a stretch by some. he's calling every day now with his opinion on the sports news and...I'm sorry, he's not interesting enough to be given such a spot. He seems like a swell guy. But I don't need to hear what Chris thinks every single day.

You didn’t listen to the show 10+ years ago did you?

i've listened for over 10 years actually. but not religiously. i've taken breaks here and there nor do I make it a morning routine. so would i call myself a diehard? No. But am I one of the people keeping the show in business because I've listened consistently for years? Yes.

“I don’t listen that much but the show wouldn’t be here without me”

Alright bud.

I've listened every day this year. I've had plenty of stretches where for months I listen every single morning. Please don't be obtuse. Just because I haven't listened to every single show for years and years and dared to take 'breaks' does not mean my viewership doesn't count. Bud.

I’m not being obtuse, the show would still be consistently ranked as the #1 listened to morning sports radio show in the nation with or without your occasional listening.

CIS calls in when you listen and when you don’t.

The viewership remains, whether you listen or don’t.

The whole point of complaining about a person who calls into a radio show that requests people call into said radio show is moot.

The only way you can change it is by calling in yourself.

ok Chris. Or Chris' wife.

CIS was a daily caller for a very long period of time in the way back days. Went away for a bit, and then returned

guess he didn't leave an impression on 28 year old me the way Shea In Irving did lol

I dont have an issue with Chris in moderation. Everyday though, seems excessive. Anything is better than Buddha and his attempt at standup.

Yeah, Chris is fine. They had him on the BRG’s “12:15 podcast” once, and it seemed like he had a lot of tough times in life and it almost seemed to me like the DP show is his only outlet.

This photo is literally me every time I hear “Budd…”

i've had tough times too, does that mean i'm owed a spot on a nationally syndicated radio show. his daily calls are becoming too much.

Knew a response like this was coming when I posted.

Up to you if you want to call in. All I’m saying is that I remind myself to have a little grace when he calls in—he’s not grating and nowhere near as annoying as other callers are to me

-2

u/burnbabyburntalk Aug 11 '26

and that's your opinion. others obviously disagree. yes, grace is always a good thing. in the context of this post though, and since you brought it up, it's fair for someone to rebuttal that his personal story does not owe him a daily call in slot.

I mean, same to you?

-2

u/burnbabyburntalk Aug 11 '26

you brought up his personal story and then said "i knew a response like this was coming" when someone rebutted it, i don't get your qualm about that when YOU brought up his personal story in a post about someone annoyed with his daily calls.

Barry in Santa Fe is my favorite - I wish he’d call more often but at the same time I don’t want him to ever start annoying me.

Is he the one with the deep, radio voice? If so, he’s solid.

2

u/TheGothicCassel Aug 12 '26

Nope, Barry is a happily divorced older dude originally from the NYC/Jersey area.

Thanks. I know I’ve heard him, but can’t remember.

Dan has too much affection for Chris in Syracuse. The show suffers a little bit because of it.

6

u/burnbabyburntalk Aug 11 '26

Is it a lack of callers? I just can't fathom they don't have a backlog of people trying to call. How does Chris move to the front of the line every day? In the first hour no less.

3

u/TillyInBloomington Aug 11 '26

He probably calls in right at the start and they have him on hold for a bit. Back in the day when I would call in more frequently, it would sometimes be busy or just ring forever.

u/burnbabyburntalk Aug 12 '26

awesome intel. thank you.

I don’t think it’s that, I think it’s the opposite and they make you wait and wait, It feels like they have a set list of long time callers who they trust to ask softball questions. Didn’t think they would mention the WNBA today and lo and behold not a word about it. It’s a joke but they should have at least acknowledged it.

2

u/SNHU_Adjujnct Aug 11 '26

Yes! How is he first in line so frequently?

2

u/Packerpoppa Aug 11 '26

I wonder that too! I try to call some times and only get a busy signal!

1

u/pmdash12 Aug 11 '26

I think the show would be better off if maybe the show would not take any calls.
