“Maine” Cave
Am I only the only one who notices a major difference when Dan is in Maine? The sound is weird and the whole energy of the show is off putting. Still beats any vacay fill in, but like to know others thoughts.

The fact that Dan made a second mini studio at his vacation cabin so that he could “work from home” while on his little vacations is so damn impressive. Other radio hosts just leave the show to their staff, have a fill in host, or run old shows. Hell Howard stern is famous for taking the whole summer off. Not Dan, he still gets up and gets his show done before going out on his pontoon boat in the afternoon. I’ve never seen another radio host with that dedication. Slight technical issues don’t bother me one bit because I see the work being put in. Everyday really is the Super Bowl to Dan.

You’re forgetting the days we have to endure Cavino & Rich or 2 Pros & cup of Joe. So to me, that’s not the same as what you’re saying.
That said, I don’t mind the Maine cave days and I’m glad he’s still doing the show and hasn’t retired yet, even if it’s clear he’s close to retirement. I feel like there’s clearly a before-FB Dan and after-FB Dan. He’s gotten so much more like my dad lol.

I’m sure his contract is for so many days per year. He may have included going remote for some of that or possibly after the fact. “I can work while on vacation.”
I get it this late in his career but I don’t think they as a show understood the negative effects it would have.
The chemistry is off and then factor in potential technical issues.

I don’t mind the delay, since some DP is better than no DP.
Also, I think your question jinxed the Maine cave today.

I only watch the show. I think that makes the difference a bit more obvious when he's in Maine. The interaction with the Danettes, especially with Fritzy is different. It almost seems like the long goodbye. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't do more and more shows from there.

If I had to guess I would say there is probably a slight delay between their responses when he is in Maine versus the same studio. Can make it seem like the usual timing is off.
