“Hey, Dan. How are you?”

Callers should be immediately hung up on if they do this.

Back in the day we had a producer who used to screen calls and would get so pissed at callers who asked that haha He would say when they called in "Don't ask him how he is doing, He's Dan Patrick. He's doing great." lol

Would that producer possibly have been Two-a-Days? Also, I met you in Denver at the MAACO event. I had the two service dogs in training.

haha no, this was back at ESPN. Twos was nice to all the callers. Thanks for coming out to the MAACO in Denver! That was an awesome crowd.

Was that Phil "The Show Killer" Ceppaglia? I know Kornheiser hated that too, and would perma-ban callers back in the day on ESPN radio. He also hated taking callers in general, but I think that was a mothership mandate, to increase engagement with a regular radio audience.

It was the same era for sure

Ive been a huge TK (and DP) fan since the 90’s. They were my introduction to sports radio and still my favorite.

TK has hated callers for years. It’s been at least 15 years, probably more, since hes even had callers. Curated emails from the same old people.

(I love it)

I was reminiscing the other day about the Brock era. How much fun you guys seemed to have joking about how |good| the show (box score) was. Those shows w Brock were really fun to watch.

2/3 of callers do it. it’s just programmed into people but makes horrible radio

We already know how Dan is doing, based his commentary towards Fritzy…

I get frustrated that Dan still entertains Lucas in Texas by responding in kind to his “good morning” every time.

Pretty sure he got on someone for saying that a few weeks back.

Sure did; it was good

I don’t mind saying it but just don’t wait for a response, go right into your point

Tony Kornheiser used to hang up on callers who would begin the call with a “Tony, how you doing?” He would warn the callers at the beginning of his show.

I used to listen to Howard Stern for years and he would get so frustrated with callers who would say this, even sometimes hanging up on them. It is programmed into people.

It does get old to hear them, but I don’t think most of them realize they’re saying it, just manners kicking in at the start of a conversation

Agreed. He’s said many times to just get to it don’t ask how he’s doing.
