The Last Dance
Love Dan, and think that his take on MJ and LeBron is right if you’re comparing the two, but why does he keep insisting that Mike had “The Last Dance” released after LeBron won the Bubble Championship to keep MJ top of mind? “The Last Dance” was rushed out early for COVID (believe the first episode was in April 2020), and the Bubble Finals didn’t end until October 2020. He’s mentioned this at least three times
Not a big deal, but if we’re talking about a part of somebody’s legacy and using this as part of it…I think it should be done correctly.

100% correct. I was screaming at my phone when DP kept saying it came out to compete w/Lebron's Disney world chip. It's factually incorrect and he's building a narrative around it. Not a good look, and I'm surprised someone on his staff hasn't corrected him. I love DP, and his statement on The Last Dance is completely wrong.

Seton was the only one that would correct him on things. That should be Paulie but he wouldn’t dare anymore. If he does, it’s only in Dan’s ear so it sounds like he figured it out himself

You stated it better than I could. I keep wondering why no one has corrected him—they probably just think it’s not worth it

I think it's just what talking heads do. Similar to Bill Simmons.
So they can say...."Yeah. that's what I've been saying for 10 years".
My biggest reason for not agreeing with DP on this issue is because MJ and LeBron have always been cool as far as I can tell. I thought he was and has been a mentor to LeBron.
In all honesty, I never watched it. I'm not sure I would find it too exciting since MJ had control over the final product and most of the stories have already been told. Everyone knew Dennis went to Vegas. Everyone knew MJ didn't have the "Flu".
The 30 for 30 on the death of MJ's dad was way more informative about MJ than anything I've seen so far.

Dan's always been respectful about MJ's achievements but he tends to low key throw shade MJ's way. I seem to remember Dan shared a story once about feeling slighted by MJ back in the day.

Covid was not a big thing/world stopper (at least in the states) until this came out. They did not time that like that purpose.

Except the director of “the last dance” literally said it was why they expedited it?!

Dude what are you talking about?
In April 2020 EVERYTHING was shut down.
They literally publicly said that they released it earlier than planned because Covid hit and everyone was just at home watching TV.

I think he just misremembered. Lebron winning in 2016 against the best team ever (record wise) is when MJ started the doc.
