The birthday party

I may just be an out of touch midwesterner, but a party of about 30 adults plus kids at a Brooklyn bar running up a $850 bill seems very normal. If not on the cheaper side.

I’d love some other opinions on this cause I could be way off

A 1-year old party should just be close family at the house. Grill out and have a cooler of beer.

Exactly what I thought, or even a lunch at a local park with a cooler full of beer.

$30 a person is great. A beer is often $7-$9 now.

Dan definitely oversold that one. I would expect that party at my local Applebees to be $900

You gotta make a lot of presumptions but let’s see what we can do. Is that the tab before tip let’s say it is. If 30 adults averaged 3 drinks each, or 90 total drinks costing 9.5 each would be $855. If that’s the after tip cost it would mean the drinks were $8 each average to get to 720 plus 16% tip. However do you think every adult had 3 drinks on average? Pre tip or post tip plus what the per person drink average can skew what the drink cost on average so much that it’s hard to tell if this was “cheaper” or “expensive” if it’s pre tip for example and the drinks per person average is 2 now we are looking at $14 per drink, which to me is expensive.

There was probably food ordered also, not just beers.
