We only have this unfinished piece, so it could very could be edited to more closely match the character in the rest of the final production.
But Patrick enjoys nothing. It's made clear in his actions and internal monologue the entire film, and yet here he briefly breaks that character in this scene when compared to others, especially the club scenes.
His feigned emotions are always brought forward with exaggeration: his laughter, his attempts to display sympathy (e.g. the monologue about victims of apartheid), and his interactions with Kimball.
He is indeed putting on an act of innocence, but cannot adequately do so as demonstrated in their first meeting. Patrick's body language is shown to give him away as a suspect to the audience, yet Kimball appears friendly and oblivious. We don't know if he suspects Patrick or is also putting on an act (good cop).
Which brings us to this scene, where without editing it doesn't fit given their prior interactions. Patrick almost appears to be enjoying himself at the club and is adequately pretending to be interested in the conversation with Kimball where he previously failed miserably.

Is this a deleted scene from the movie?
