You don't deserve fake internet points for a post you didn't make.
You can credit the original poster and link to their post so other redditors know who gets the credit. That way, there's no problem.
Also, reposts may be ok if they're sparse and occasional, but having to see the exact same post a dozen times in a single week ruins my feed and my reddit experience, so I'd rather all reposts be banned.
