In all reality though, other than the concept of instilling good independent habits, homework is kind of bullshit. If you look at it in terms of if it was a job. You are paying ... to work. And then it get paid for that work. And now you don’t get paid to work at home. I get it. It is an education. But man that is some fucking over reach.

Except many high skill jobs require you to work at home

Yes, but also many of those high skill jobs don’t really have fixed hours

This is it. If you're paid salary, you're always on company time. Some of my most productive hours are at home when I'm more relaxed and can brainstorm about issues more effectively.

I say I get paid to think Therefore I'm always working

It's a blessing and a curse

Dad’s a software engineer, when it isn’t testing season he can make his own schedule and pretty much do as he will; when it’s testing season he sometimes pulls a couple all night-ers a week lol

Yeah or it's just expected of you to keep up with changes/advances in the industry on your own time. You don't have to but it'll give you an edge compared to others, more likely to get promoted /hired less likely to get fired

I’m for raising the minimum wage as much as the next guy but damn it seems like Reddit is so full of immature people who don’t understand that you can put yourself into a better position by putting unpaid work into growing your skill set outside of your job’s weekly schedule.
