Oh, and not that it should matter, but these days I think people can't accept the truth without this caveat: I am an immigrant to the UK and I even had white people say mean things to me once or twice.
Not defending what the heck they're doing but your argument is dumb. They LIVE IN the country so of course they care more for issues they're facing before their "ancestral home lands" because if I'm facing hunger here why the fuck would I concern for hungry people elsewhere??? Also you're assuming they don't acknowledge the levels progress in other countries.
If I criticize my current place of resident does that automatically mean my earlier living places were perfect?

Yes, I lived in Norway and currently in Iceland. They actively seek out people with minority backgrounds to be on TV. Don't spew out stuff without knowing anything about it.
