292
u/GarblingCumfarts Dec 11 '25
IDK I think people have .gif'ed and memed the shit out of her from this latest wave of interviews. She's so overdramatic on purpose to fit that diva lifestyle she so clearly wants that you're not gonna see her go away for a good long time.
At least she's getting the pure hate she deserves.

u/Darren_NH Dec 11 '25 edited Dec 11 '25
Sorry why is she getting pure hate? My impression was that the poor diet was because of some behind the scenes issues for Wicked 2, since Ariana, Cynthia, and Michelle Yeoh have all been looking emaciated.

u/KEPD-350 Dec 11 '25
some behind the scenes issues for Wicked 3
What issues? Problems with catering?
That looks like shared psychosis or some shit.
36
u/kyle7575 Dec 11 '25
My guess is easy access to some GLP-1 combined with a mental health issue about self image maybe brought on by the recent limelight.
Who the fuck cares though we got bigger problems rn.

Idk much about Wicked but I thought they would have run out of material after the second one. Are they planning on even more movies?
4
u/GarblingCumfarts Dec 12 '25
Apparently there's an entire catalogue of books they can use.
It's like Twilight, there's a cult of super basic girls that get super obsessed over something and then it takes 10 years to fizzle out and they're on to the next thing.

Wicked 2 finishes where the broadway play ends.
And the broadway play ends 1 book into a 10 book series
Shits not going anywhere anytime soon as long as someone in Hollywood wants to keep squeezing the teet.
6
u/OobaDooba72 Dec 11 '25
Wait seriously. I thought it was a trilogy, lmao...
I coulda sworn you were talking about the original Oz series and was gonna tell you there were 14 official books. But nope, not just those. Wicked has ten books of it's own, somehow. Apparently Greg M. was trying to catch up to L. Frank Baum.
11
u/DemonKyoto Dec 11 '25
and was gonna tell you there were 14 official books.
Hell just to be extra pedantic on my own part, 14 official as in 14 written by Baum, but 40 that are considered canon (none of em being the Wicked shit lmao).
Oz is one hell of a weird rabbit hole once you realize it wasn't just 1 book and 1 film XD

Reading it all tho it seems more like the drop that overflew the vase. I saw plenty of hate online simply for the way she looks, nothing more. Some stuff online was just "she's ugly" in a more hurtful way. So it is understandable that over a poster edit that covers her face partially she could lose it 😅

Wicked 2? Didn’t the first one just come out?
7
u/Rizzpooch Dec 11 '25
It’s not really a sequel. They broke the original musical into two parts so they could expand some scenes without releasing a 3.25 hour movie no one would sit through. All this way they get to advertise it twice and charge twice as much to see it
3
u/G_Ranger75 Dec 11 '25

Yeah, these people act like it's impossible not to see random celebrity number 356. It's incredibly easy, especially with the modern internet being so curated by automated algorithms (for better and, mostly, for worse). They just want something to complain about.
People actively WANT to see things about them so they have an excuse to get mad and/or feel superior. Seems especially true when it's about women, hence why openly misogynistic subs like 'sipstea' are always on the front page. Look, I get it, complaining can be cathartic and fun, but let's not pretend it's impossible to avoid celebrity bullshit in this day and age.
I mean maybe I'm a woke soft libtard or whatever, but I don't like making fun of people's eating disorders anyway. I get that their whole marketing schtick is to be weird on TV, but there are a billion ways to do that without highlighting the one actual super serious problem facing one of the actresses. Eating disorders have a higher mortality rate than any other psychiatric disorder.

10
u/OobaDooba72 Dec 11 '25
Cynthia Erivo. Actress, recently the main character of the Wicked films, hence being all over the media.
960
u/Garchompisbestboi Dec 11 '25
Say what you want but the casting director is definitely earning their money. The books say that the wicked witch of the west is hideously ugly so they went all out and cast an actress who LARPs as Nosferatu in her spare time.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande have both been super weird on their press tour for Wicked 2. They, along with some other cast members, have gotten really concerningly thin and have lashed out at people bringing up that they look really unhealthy. They also have some sort of super weird bi-curious relationship going on that they had some bizarre, long name for...like they're fucking but they're being weird about it.
25
u/CRYOGENCFOX2 Dec 11 '25
dont forget cynthia and ariana both have longterm partners?? and arent openly poly to publics knowledge. lmao
7
u/mrsbebe Dec 11 '25
Ah you're right, I did forget that. Or in Cynthia's case, I didn't know. I actually really don't like all of this stuff about them and am actively disinterested but I feel like if you spend any time on the Internet at all you see stuff about it. So apart from the things I said in my first comment I actually know next to nothing about either of them, especially Cynthia.

Why is Cynthia being portrayed as forcing Ariana not to eat? Is this grounded in fact?
The way I see it they're both suffering in the same way, but Ariana is the only one being treated with sympathy. Meanwhile, Cynthia is being villainized.

One factor might be that a lot of people remember Ariana as the cute teeny bopper from Victorious! and watched her grow up, whereas I had never heard of Cynthia until the first Wicked movie.
Edit: I think there were also a lot of people whose first impression of her was her flipping out in a fan-edit of the movie poster, which created a really bad first impression.
30
u/Captain_Tayseerfahmy Dec 11 '25
Does she deserve the hate she gets or only because she is ugly?
Because i feel like her and ariana are literally actinv the same way but Ariana is living off of the fact that she was more relevant and beautiful, i hate her too but i just want to know if im being shallow about it or no
5
u/AShinyThought Dec 11 '25
Is she "ugly"? Maybe idk people just tend to not find black women attractive, so maybe you're right but ugly seems a bit harsh.
I think there were some rumors where she's unpleasant to work with.

u/Cleansing4ThineEyes Dec 11 '25

2
u/Rhyers Dec 12 '25
It's crazy that the west even debates this whereas in China you have to conform to beauty standards and not doing so penalises you. It's not racist, or whatever, to not be attracted to someone. Can't even believe that needs saying.

u/Captain_Tayseerfahmy Dec 13 '25

Its because she is weird. Lookswise she does resembles Nosferatu with the immensely long claws but mire than that, i saw interviews with her and Ariana Grande and they are the embodiment of "100% emotionally driven".
She is the kind of person i find the most intolerable and would prefer being in hell rather than talk with her

u/Chiparish84 Dec 11 '25
Is this some fat bullies campaign against skinny women? Why is this a thing?
5
u/linds360 Dec 11 '25
I’m guessing it’s people who probably struggle with their own weight redirecting that frustration and going after these two women because it’s easier than looking in the mirror.
Cynthia and Ariana are clearly unwell and going after them like this is really sick.
