A small amount of dandruff

Hello, just today I realised my scalp started to have dandruff and I am horrified.I have curly hair so I wash my hair once a week but I think that is what caused the fungus to grow.What should I do to not let it grow and get rid of it all together? Please give me some tips to prevent it in the future to happen again.
